Red knob switch like thing

Hi guys,

I have a Toyota Vios, YOM 2003.

I recently saw a switch like thing in driver side, below the bonnet lever... Does anyone know what is it for...??

Yes, i think... remote is a steel mate remote...

You mean is it to mute the car alarm or to shut down the engine or something...??

In that case it may be a kill switch for the alarm.

Some models allow you to start the car incase your Remote runs out of battery, thus an instance where you use the car keys to open it, setting off the alarm and then using the key to start the car without pressing the unlock button, this overrides the rudimentary immobilizer in aftermarket car alarms, and mutes the siren at that instance. This switch is mostly not wired it or properly hidden. Then again I maybe wrong as there are so many makes knock offs and models in the market now.
