Car Jerks when switching from EV to Engine Mode

Hi,

I'm having an issue in my FIT GP1 2012. It clocks about 59000Km. CVT oil was changed at 38000Km. Services done at regular interval.

I'm getting a small jerk, when switching from EV mode to Engine power. Its mostly noticeable at low speeds. After this i did a engine tune-up, all plugs and injectors, throttle body were cleaned together with EGR value. (Actually they were in pretty good shape, no carbon or oil deposits)

After the tune-up, fuel compunction increased a little bit but the Jerk when switching from EV mode to Engine power was still there.

Has anyone encountered this issue before? Any suggestions in getting this issue solved?

Changing from EV mode to Engine mode means, from EV mode animation to Engine power up animation?

I used a GP1 4 year till 73000km, didn’t notice such an issue. Could this be related to gear box.

Yes, exactly, when the animation is shown in the screen. (Actually the animation comes faction of a second after the jerk.)

Not sure, where exactly the problem is, seeking for help.

Another evidence that, so called Tune-up's will not work for most of the cases in new cars even though several makabasses recommended.

1. What is the millage when you buy this car?

2. Is this jurk a new thing to you or was it existed since the first day you started using this car?

Hi Gayantha,

Thank you for the reply.

1. Mileage is 59000 Km

2. Quite sure its a new thing. Started noticing it from last week. (May be it was there earlier also, not that much noticeable)

Has anyone else notice/observe this behavior.

You buy it at 59000 km means you bought it very recently. Am I correct?

No no, current odometer reading is 59000Km. I bought it at 28000Km. Sorry if i confused you.

Hi,

The jerk you referred to is also accompanied with low clicking sound. I have read about this on Pakwheels Honda forum .

I think this is normal for GP5 & Vezel attributed to poor quality fuel and thick oil.

Try adding some 100 octane and switch to thinner oil like 0-20 oil.

95 Octane is the best we have here is it not?

In which case you might need to you an Octane Booster like Liqui Moly SpeedTec or something from Wurth or STP

As for the thinner oil wouldn't the mileage the vehicle has run have a bearing on that?

I have Peugeot 3008 plug in Reg 2020 mileage 71000. I got this issue as well. very soft jerking when car shifting EV to Patrol. It was very soft shifting EV to Patrol before but I have this issue now from last two days. I explain you what happened. I filled my all tank with patrol app 40Lt full tank. I start using my car for only on electric mode for last 3 weeks. I have not used any patrol from my car tank. I did approx. 400 miles on electric continuously. But after that I start using car on hybrid mode. Then It start giving me this problem. I think my be fuel has some dirt and settle in 3 weeks and now start giving me jerk. I really don't understand. If I drive on sport version without EV then It has perfect run without any jerk Gear changing. everything perfect but get jerking only on hybrid mode.

It very well could be the fuel. We used our Hybrid Corolla in Japan for 1.5 years. Shifting back and forth between EV and Hybrid/Gasoline mode was very smooth. I would not know what the car was running on unless I looked at the speedometer to check the power source. The car has been in Sri Lanka for a few months now, and just halfway through the first tank, there was a slight jerk when shifting from EV to Hybrid/Gasoline mode. I put an injector cleaner before an oil change. Then things became normal again. Now that we are back in a new tank of fuel the jerk is back. So..it has to be the quality of the fuel.

Mine is now at 132k. I've noticed this very slight jerk at slow speeds early on. It comes when the fuel begins to fire as the car shifts from EV mode. I've had it from a mileage of 28k, and it hasn't reduced nor increased over 100k of driving.
