hahaha! exactly what a freind of mine and i were talking about... besides, if such a car WAS brought down to SL, obviously the port and customs will have records of it.. why cant the Gvmnt just look for those instead of a single car (among posibly millions) on the roads of SL... talk about inefficiancy and lack of common sense..

guys with rare sports car pls be aware of this matter.keep all the documents with you in the car to prove that its not an Aston Martin..otherwise our cops will piont at a nissan 300ZX and say its an AM.... :action-smiley-060:

Not necessarily,.... from what I've heard if you've got the right connections, you could get a container through without inspection..... if a vehicle came in that way and is not registered or insured, no one would have a clue about it.

Mahinda will never let Namal buy a car like this due to public image issue

Yes that is why he's taking a delegation of over 80 to New York UN sessions next week, at a cost of Rupees 8 million a NIGHT!! This includes his own team of "security" and other gophers, plus a "team" for his wife (probably hair dressers and beauticeans etc). In a country where many people cannot afford 3 meals a day, this is how its president is worried about "public image" by busting 8 million a night on the biggest team to attend this conference.

Security of the president is top priorty and I never question it. It doesnt matter who the president is. Let it be Ranil or Mahinda but security of the head of state should never be compromised.

Lol who wrote that? Mervyn Silva? Highly doubt a doctor would sound so illiterate :P

Milinda I agree that presidential security is of course important, but note that all the members of that delegation are not security, probably 4 or 5 people are at max. The rest of them are just people looking for a joyride.

Last year, less than half of the more than 50 Sri Lankan delegates ever set foot on ‘UN soil’. Some of the delegates who are going from Colombo have already contacted their friends and relatives living in the US about their impending junket. One of them has asked for an appointment with a cardiologist, another has arranged for a visit to a casino in Atlantic City and a third wants advanced tickets to a Broadway show -- all at taxpayer's expense.

Security is one thing. Booking an absurd number of people into the Ritz Carlton for 8 million bucks a night has absolutely no justification. One might say, if you are a firm believer in something, then you should be prepared to die for it.

hahahahahaa! i didnt know our excelency the president uses Gmail.. wonder if we can contact him on Gtalk as well...

and the writing style sooo does not soud like a doctor who is a also british citizen... jeez... if they are so dam keen on this hoax, get someone who knows proper english to write the letter!!!! it honestly does look like the kind of letter mervin silva would write... (saying exactly what the president wants people to think)

there are sooo many things that are just not right, but i dont think i have time to go inot everything.... If i was the producer of some news show i'd send a reporter to England to interview the real Doctor Namal on video.. now thats a ground breaking story!!!!

must try to find some articles online on this ....

Might work with an ordinary car, but an Aston would attract attention, and if someone was looking, I assume they would be able to track down the paperwork to prove that it was bought in legally.

Or maybe not, depending on how efficient the filing system is at customs. Never experienced it. :D

True Milinda, but isn't it always a fact while our president is in the US and in the UN, he would be assigned a security detail by the UN and the US as well, especially considering he is under threat so I guess its an issue of finding a balance. And assessing the threat and acting accordingly. There is a fine line between compromise, and realistic assessment.

Is it true that this doctor who owned this car in UK has a relationship with the guy who was hammered by Mervyn Silva's son...
