Had a chat with the works manager sometime back- apparently this car has made the rounds in an attempt to get it back to operational.

Apparently the agents even had a go, but couldn't put it right.

Its said to be 95% good now; although they spent quite some time locating a battery that fits the rear compartment (its in the boot). Odd shape apparently.

Very hairy to drive, i'm told....fishtails at the slightest overzealous right foot. This is before the era of LSD, intelligent traction control etc.

Sad thing is that it's an Auto. Its actually a very odd metallic pink colour with dark purple leather, which leads me to believe the first owner was probably a bird.

I don't know if anyone noticed the brit reg: "B5STAD"...which reads 'bas*ard'...

 now thats someone with a sense of humour! :D

would have paid a pretty penny for a private plate like that!

hmmm sounds like a proper RWD machine then ;) ...there are more of us who have to put up with the lack of all that driver nanny whiz bangery!

...and if this is as bad as they say , just think what those 911's will be like! ...in the rain! :o

incidentally i was having my fleeting glimps whilst J---- was on the phone with you!

i heard something rev up when i was leaving & it didn't sound like a flat four...

so i'm only to assume it was this - & let me say it sounded most acceptable :D

Oh...what brings you to the Senok stables?

I'm sure J shared some amusing anecdotes about me as an Scooby owner... ;)

 no no don't worry , he didn't sell you out :D

t'was my first visit there so was feeling a tad shy to probe :)

came over to check out that black Sti 4/5 - the moment i saw EJ15 on the plates i made up my mind not to bother with it

i know of another member that checked the car out and so did i... car looks clean but that price is far too much for a conversion...

maithri

the 911s i assume you're talking about is 15-911? the car's being restored... well at least its engine is...

i can get more details if you like...

so what do you recon it is? Sti 4 or 5?

there was red paint on the manifold and the intercooler looked like that off a 5 , as did the dash and dials

but apparently the air flow sensor and some other bits were off a 4...

whats the story behind the 911 machan?

who's got the car now?

any idea how much it would go for,if by chance the owner decided to part with it?

Thanks, I worked on the 911 when it was in the uk-no I don't know the SL reg.number. That is if it is the same one, It was fine to drive, I only drove it a few times on short distances on North London streets-not the greatest driving roads then or now! 15-911 a very appropriate registration number!

The 928 you are talking about-The plate cant be B5stad as that would not have been issued, it must be B55TAD. Stll a very poweerful car and very difficult to work on due to restricted access to even basic things under the bonnet. Even here parts for these cars are difficult to get and cost the earth.

Maithri.

Care to explain for the vertically opposed fans? And what is the price tag for a full conversion done at the Agents?

EJ15 (Engine number prefix) indicates the original engine on the vehicle. This means the car started out as a 1.5l. EJ20 is the 2.0...

As for conversion prices...depends on how well its done i suppose. I would guess somewhere in the region of 1.5 mill?? Depends what went into the car...which is why conversions are a risky buy unless you know the previous owner, etc.

i don't think this was a conversion - more like a whole car being brought in and the plates being stuck on

The guy who had this done was apparently a notoriously infamous Land Rover technician/specialist...

Thats right, this car came (complete) down from Japan. The plates are obviously from another Subaru. However, this car was at Senok a while ago for a turbo replacement. Apparently it had run without an oil change for a long time.

hmmm thats just a tad worrying.....but i guess it's one less component for the next owner to worry about :)

this is all rother O.T , but does anyone have count of the number of original STi's in Sri Lanka ??

Mod's maybe this would be best moved over a Subaru Thread :)

i've been very curious as to how many real Sti's are out there?

haven't really come across very many with Phase II's...

I'm wondering if forum member Velocity can shed some light on the number of cars in SL...i believe he was the founder of the Local WRX club.

What say Velocity? (as suggested, better not to hijack this thread and start a new one)

i'm hoping the mod's can move this all into a new thread...

so whats the break down like

STi 9 - KC 2838 , KF (white spec C) , KF - (Blue) , JV - 8885

STi 8 -

STi 7 - HX 8075

STi 6 - HH 3232 (RA-Ltd)

STi 5 - 301-7273 ;)

STi 4 - GJ - 0333 , 301 - 1132 (Type R) , 301- 0020 , GC - 1555

STi 1 , 2 , 3 & early WRX's - 300- 0901 (Sti bits but originally a wrx  )

I've left out the WRX's - simply trying to get a count of the original STi's
