Navoda De Silva
Is there a way to remove deep scratches on windshield driver side window Edited June 29, 2023 by Navoda De Silva
iRage
It is hard to say from the picture what can be done with yours. However, scratches can be polished off from glass depending on the depth of the scratch. Take it to a glass repair shop (or even a body shop) and get them to do it. If the person doing it doesn't know what they are doing then the whole glass can get messed up. So do not try to attempt it yourself or give it to some rando who is talking out of his rear-end.

Navoda De Silva
@iRage Is it true that each auto glass typically has a unique production code printed on the glass. So, if you replace the driver side auto glass, it might be challenging to find one with the exact same production code and potentially impacting the resale value of the vehicle. I know that there is a production date printed on to the windscreen is it the same for side auto glass as well? iRage
Yes....the glasses have serial/production codes on them. These codes also show things like manufacturer, safety regulations the glass is compliant to etc.... you don't have to necessarily match numbers when you replace glasses. What is important is that you replace it with a reputed product (e.g. manufacturer part, etc..). I seriously doubt serious buyers check serial numbers of glasses when buying a car. Brokers who come to buy your car might do so just to reduce their purchase price for them. But they too would not know what the codes are... If there is an accident or replacement...what is more important is that it is fixed properly with the proper compliant, manufacturer recommended part.
