0 iRage
Yes...the T32 and T31 series X-Trails that came with a CVT had a problem where its pressure control solenoid went bad prematurely. Replacing the solenoid is a pain so the best way to go about it was to replace the entire CVT unit. If replaced with a brand new unit (costs quite a lot) then you can get some decent use out of it. However, most replaced it with second hand units and the transmission went bad in most cases after a relatively short period of time. The issue comes depending on the load/driving of the car. High revving, etc..drives caused it to go bad prematurely. Soft gentle use prolonged it. In Sri Lanka most of the T32 vehicles are Hybrids, which are about 120kg heavier than the petrol T32 or even the petrol T31. Which meant the gearbox was working harder. Thus...you hear of the transmission issue mostly of the T32 series. The T31 series also came with standard automatic and manual transmissions. These do not have the problem. Later on Nissan claimed to fix the problem and they seemed to have.
