KIA Sorento (XM) 2011/2012 Diesel Auto - Brake Lights

Chandima Bodhinath

Question

Can anyone tell whether all 04 lights in the back are illuminated when the brake pedal is pressed? Some say it doesn't but almost all the vehicles I have seen have both the rear body lights and hatch lights illuminated.  Mine is not. Only the body lights are illuminated. When I checked the bulbs of the hatch lights they were OK and had duel filaments too. I was told that some have modified these lights but it's difficult to believe. Also, it was understood that vehicles with LED lights have this. Is this something to do with the relay or the fuse or it's a factory fault? I don't think all the vehicles have LED lights. Appreciate it if anyone could enlighten me in this regard.

Thanks,

Chandima

I have never owned a Sorento but I have driven one a few times which belongs to a friend. It was quite an interesting vehicle with power and comfort (2.2L diesel). What I noticed is there are 2 types of taillights. One is full LED and other just looks LED but with halogen bulbs.

The full LED taillight illuminate completely when you apply brakes. But when it comes to the halogen one only body light is illuminated. AFAIK this applies to the facelift version as well.
