Need to Know please

Hi there , i have trying to find out if my model hi ace , has a wiring harness for a tachometer , if so where would it be located behind the dash , behind the glove box , any help greatly appreciated , 

TOYOTA HI ACE 

YEAR 2018 .2.7 LITRE DOHC , AUTOMATIC . MODEL NO TRH201R-RBTDKQ

The HiAce came in so many variants in so many markets over 17+ years that it is hardly possible to give a definitive answer (yours seem to be an export model variant TRH201R). You should check for a wiring diagram for the HiAce online (there are plenty around). That would be your best bet. Usually, for newer models, the harnesses are the same for both vehicles with and without the tachometer and what might be missing are the pinouts at the connectors. But again, that changes depending on market as well.  

Are you planning to swap in an original meter cluster with an RPM meter or fix an aftermarket external unit?

Thanks for the reply , it will be an after market tacho , external unit mounted on the dashboard , trying to get an answer from toyota near impossible i just gave up , thanks again

Hi, I have done the same with a 2KD 2007 Hilux a while ago, I recall it being a green wire from one of the plugs coming into the gauge cluster.

The wires are color coded and I used a factory wiring diagram from a service manual to tap the feed, worked well till I sold the thing.

Most bits are similar including engine options between the hilux and the Hiace. 

So most certainly the wire is there behind the gauge cluster, get a hold of the manual online to identify the wire.
