slingshot
I keep coming across a service called Windscreen Polishing on Facebook. Has anyone tried it? My initial impression is that the guy 100% sounds like a snake oil salesman and trying to create an issue which doesn't exist as he says. iRage
Well...if your car is parked outside for a significant amount of time...then after some time there might be acid water stains that you will have to clear off. Any decent detailing shop can clean it and there is nothing special about it. In fact there are DIY automotive glass compounds/polishes in the market that you can use to do it yourself. Apart from that as long as your windshield is free of things like oils and other pollutants you really don't have to do much. Just washing and the occasional good clean with a decent glass/window cleaner would keep the windows happy. Now granted now-a-days you get various types of coting for the glass on your car. If you do apply, then then it makes it easier for you to keep the windows clear of things like acid rain stains. You are right about this guy who is advertising his services. There is no gloom and doom, as he likes to suggest, and the services offered are nothing out of the ordinary. What I would suggest is to go get your car detailed by a reputed detailer who will clean the entire car including the windows. Just tell them to remove any water stains from the glass and if they have any coatings for the windows to apply it.
walkernet
So I have done a windscreen polish for a Vitz, from the guys from Moratuwa who is in Facebook (Not sure the same place we are talking about). The issue I had was that there were deep scratch along the viper blade path, not sure what caused it as it was there when I purchased the vehicle. Tried this guys service and he was able to remove majority of them and made the windscreen much better compared to earlier. I did this more than 5 years ago and still there are no issues afterwards. Only con with this place is the owner is bit of a talker and hot head, so likes to boast about his service and responds very rudely to the negative or constructive criticisms. If you can manage that can vouch for the service that I received from him.

I checked Google Reviews, Facebook Comments - how he has responded to some of the people is appalling and decided not to get any service from someone like that because if something goes wrong, will be quite difficult to agree to a resolution with a person like that. slingshot
There are acid rain marks which makes it incredibly hard to drive at night during the rain

Not sure about availability these days but detailing supplies shops had glass/window compounds to clean water stains and stuff. You could always try your luck by visiting a few places to see if you can get one. Most shops will probably tell you to use normal body compound (to be fair the glass/window cleaning compound is ulta-fine compound). This works but if you do not know what you are doing you are going to end SERISOULY scratching the glass.

Looks like the price range for a windscreen polishing these days is between 13k - 35k.
