GTAm
Velocity said: they changed the actor..... they need to change the car which handles better.... may be the new GTR The GTR is just not cool or sleek enough. It looks as if it was styled with an axe and it's quite large isn't it? I don't think they make the same mistakes as they did with the Z3 and some of the American rubbish that appeared occassionally (AMC in Man with the Golden Gun). It's just not Bond. Actually Aston suits him best although in the books it was a pre war Bentley! Maybe in the next movie he'll go back to Japan (like in YOU ONLY Live Twice) and the Yakuza hit squad will come after him in GTRs. But then he's going to use his watch, pen or such gadget given by Q and jam the GTRs electronics and make them handle like soap cubes on a wet floor . madmax
I agree with a lot of articles that recent James Bond films are out of touch of the whole Bond theme. There is no charm, very less of the "spy" element and a whole lot of violence. Personally I preferred Pierce Brosnan's portrayal of 007 with a sense of humor, charm and less violence.... Oh for sure. Actually I'm not a fan of Astons except for the way they look, but even that's getting a bit over-used IMO. I like the new limited ed one though the One77(?). But they are sleek and stylish compared to the GTR which is tall-looking and boxy, not to mention a mess of unneccessary lines like many Jap cars. Which of course means it will look dated fast. They simply don't understand words like elegance and style which Bond is synonymous with.

Overdrive
Well for me I have to segregate it to the old and the new. the new ere starting with brosnan. my favourites from the pre Brosnan era was Bond Actor- Roger moore and Timothy Dalton Bond girl - Ursula andres ( How could anyone forget her in Dr.no, the beach scene, where she walks out of the water!!) Bond movie - Live and let die Bond car- Aston Martin DB5 Post brosnan Bond Actor- Brosnan of course. I did like Daniel Craig in casino royale, but quantum of solace just didnt do it for me. If i wanted Bourne ultimatum i would have watched it. Bond girl - Eva green Bond movie - Die another day (That was entertainment at its best) Bond car - AM DBS Some how I feel the new bond has lost the plot altogether, but I do appreciate the face that it’s more realistic. but the thing is, bond is not about being real! Its about amusing the audience with something mind blowing. This bond just gets down and dirty. the whole sophistication is lost I believe. sometimes the way forward is backwards. Oh yeah Ursala as Honey Ryder is everyones favourite so much so that they recreated the scene with Halle Berry in Die Another Day! Funny I know but I prefer Daniela Bianchi as Tatiana Romanova in From Russia with Love from all the Connery Bond babes! Just like I prefer Caterina Murino to Eva Green in Casino R. About losing the plot. I have yet to watch Quantum of Solace.......but if at all Bond has always adapted and re-invented itself according to the times in order to survive. After all it is the most successful franchise isn't it?

Devinda_Z
Bonhams to Offer 007's Lotus, With Photo Op London, UK (November 4, 2008) -- With the global release of the new movie Quantum of Solace putting Ian Fleming’s legendary British secret agent James Bond firmly back in the public eye, Bonhams is delighted to announce that it has one of 007’s classic sports cars for sale. Pericles
After just seeing that opening scene, I'm rather disappointed. How do they expect me to believe that an Aston Martin DBS would have so much trouble shaking off those two Alfas? I mean, that thing comes alongside! Surely just a little surge from that damn 6.0l V12 would ensure that would never ever happen? On bloody tarmac too!

If they are twisties on the Italian Alps..... Italian cars are known for their mid range punch and perfect gearing on those twisty mountain roads. Drive one to Nuwara Eliya and you'll what I mean. As I always believe figure say only half the story........ I've got a story in an old Autocar somewhere about how these two testers did a long drive in the UK, one in a 911 Turbo 993 and the other in a Peugeot 306 GTi-6. And what was amazing was how the 911 always had the Pug on it's tail. Then read CAR Jan 2008 issue - Dream drives Monte Carlo to Modena The Alfa 8C could always stick with the lighter more powerful 430 Scuderia. In theory this should not happen. The Scud is brand spanking new tech, track honed by the Meister himself. The Alfa chassis is Maserati left-overs re-heated by the Alfa engineers. Magic or what? Then there was the best race I've ever seen at Katu. Modded Mini driven by Iqbal, came from behind and ate two Subaru Legacys RSs and two RX7 TTs for lunch! This was sometime in the mid 90s. Ok ok maybe Bond was having a bad day

Ok ok maybe Bond was having a bad day couldn't wait till it hit the big screen so watched a decent camera copy, but was rather disappointed with the movie as a whole.. no gadgets worth of mention and Bond doesn't..... i'll not say it n spoil things.. yes the chase was up on some twisty bits... Why is it that one hardly sees anything other than the usual diet of Evo's & Sti's on the track thesedays?! must have been quite a sight to see RX's and Legacy RS's! were these RS's the 1st gen Single turbo's or the 2ng get TT's? Pericles
Overall, I'm disappointed in the Daniel Craig version. He spends far too much time chasing people around on foot. Where are the car chases?! For all the hype about the car chase scene, its damn short. Even the boat chase was better. Remember Brosnan chasing a car around in a Tank? No gadgets except for that computer system from Minority Report that everyone is ripping off. And the cellphone. But where are the laser watches and grappling hooks? Of course, it is an early Bond, so his tech can develop. Leaves a large plot hole about the affinity for the DB5, but ... And he keeps getting beaten up. Brosnan would have come out of those fights without a smear on his Tux. He's just not smooth. That was the essence of it. Gotta be smooth. Anyone here that Puff Daddy wants to be the next James Bond? Like an African American James Bond?! Why can't these Americans come up with their own super-spy story. Maybe the Felix Leiter chronicles or summin?
