i hope the yammy was in good condition and the ride knew how to race :P

I've been on some great tzr's...the rare 150 also...they are very fast bikes to say the least...

for me... personally...jap and italian bikes are the best.

the best bike i've ridden to date happens to be an Aprilia. :)

and for the record... a tzr 125 can be easily compared to the pulsar 200 and whoever said that it can't...doesn't know a lot about bikes.

the yammie is a two stroker while the pulsar is a 4 stroker.

I'm not 100%of the gearing but i would guess the yammie is geared towards sport riding that the more utilitarian pulsar.

yes the seating in the TZR is more of a racing and speed , where as the pulsar 200, and even the 220 is made for a bit of commuting as well. But overall my ideal bike is the honda supercub..............which was ranked the best bike of all times in a programme i saw in discovery.I also like the vespa scooter the new one. I have seen a few in the roads. The 150 CC is superb

indian and chinese are no where close to japanese bikes when it comes to durability and build quality. What rameez said about supercub reminded me of the first bike my father had, which is again a supercub 90 with selfstart and black meters. We used it, (more subtle word is abuse ;) ) for more than 20 years before passing to another relative.

Once it was idling for 3 years without even starting and i decided to use it again and all i did was put a new battery, one and a half litres of petrol and kick it just once to bring it back to life. Was capable of doing at 95 kmph which is the maximum of the speedo.

No major repairs except for couple of spark plugs, brake cable, rear brake pads, one chain and a sprocket set, and yes tires for some 50k kms we've put into it.

machang how much do you think that you can get one for.............i mean i have seen the chinese make going for about 65000 brand new , but then it does not give you the same performance and durablity of the honda.I dont they are brought down here anymore and it is second hand you can expect for..................never had one but have very special memories of riding them years back....... :D

Sir,

Please note I write about a 4 wheeler share my experience for 35000 KMs not about a 2 wheeler.

I use a Chinese Van normal problems Radiator getting clogged over heating because I used tube well water

Front brakes was binding due to a problem on the tandem master cylinder.

If you maintain regularly no major problems.

My engine is Japanese Suzuki engine made in china all other major parts can be inter changed by Japanese parts.

I DO MOST OF REPAIRS MY SELF.

really don't know the market price but stay away from the chinese replica.

We never sold the cubby but gave it to one of my uncles yet with my fathers ownership though he had passed away. True, got very very fond memories of two generations but this is not the right topic to discuss that :)

Since this thread has been reactivated, I'd like to point out that I subsequently discovered that the video wasn't entirely accurate - (I can't remember how but I think it was some weird simulation with a truck full of concrete or something).

That said, many Chinese vehicles, such as the Chery QQ have dismal safety records:

I wonder how many ladies (and gents) who buy that here have any idea how unsafe it is.

@Saturn, Jadey posted on that.

And I guess people who buy them are in denial that shit could happen to them no matter how careful they are..

nah machang, when i sad the tzr was geared....it's gearing of the gearbox!

It's not really designed to take two people and loads etc like the pulsar is

And yeah..ditto on the supercub

Why don't you use a good coolant instead of tube well water? Even the coolants that are supposed to be mixed with water should be mixed with distilled water.

hmm... well we can agree to disagree then :)

and btw...i would easily take on the Pulsar 200 with an 80's TZR or RZ 125 anyday :) Even my 4 stroke offroader XR250 has embarrassed many Pulsar riders who wanted to smoke me but failed in style... And i'm not talking about fancy jap bikes with EFI and all....good all carb bikes! And the XR being geared for more offroad stuff and not street riding.

I have an old MTX 200R...112- a 1989 model...about 8years ago when i changed it's piston for the first time...there were much much newer indian bikes getting their crank shafts and the likes replaced :) And i used to ride he MTX like i absolutely hated it :) those indian bike couldn't have suffered the same fate so at least to date...Indian bikes have a Loooooooong way to catch upto...

Have they made prgress? yes.

Are they comparable...No! At least not to me :)

In my personal opinion we must compare like with like...for example not compare a commuting bike such as the pulsar 150/200/220 with the yamaha TZR, even though the pulsar has a bigger engine.many people who compare these must also compare some like this

A honda original CB125 vs a discover 125/135 or XCD 135( i wonder if the honda will be able to match it up)

a honda super cub vs XL heavy duty from TVS

a similiar 100 cc bike with a an indian commuting bike

this would be a good comaprison and should be more justfiable.

we must not forget that the indian bikes give a good fuel effeciency even the pulsar 200 would give you about 38kmpl ,,

i thought the pulsar was more a "performance" bike from the indian camp :P

i mean look at how they advertise it and have positioned it in the market.

they don't show people carrying gunny bags or even pillion riders...they show folks doing stunts, wheelies, end do's and the likes :P

and if you were to compare to a CB125...those bikes have lasted decades with extreme punishments!

i'd doubt if one can see a pulsar or any indian bike for that matter living that long :P

I have an 89 model MTX200 with me....it's sitting in the garage not doing anything...but if i was to give it a bit of TLC and bring it back...

it will easily outlive the the 2010 model pulsar...

but hey.....that's just me :D

are you selling it :D was it brought brandnew

anyway machang what do you think of the battle of the CB125 vs the Discovery, i have ridden both and the new discover 135 is pretty quick for the small engine it has ...and so is the CB 125 but is quite slow in relative pickup IMHO . when it comes to looks i think the CB125 has the sexy look :P :P :P and more character.

Anyway any idea how much would a CB125 in good condition be, and by the way dont go by the advertising campaign in the indian camp , that is for the indian crowd who have not yet tasted Japanese bikes because of the heavy import taxes involved.:P

anyway my point is you need to compare like with like

I've been using a Pulsar 150 round light model for the past 6 1/2 years without any problems. Reliable, does around 50kmpl. It is not very stable though, and it skids onto a side when you brake very hard. Corrosion is also a slight problem, but it will be under control if it is maintained well. Spare parts are very cheap. Max speed I've gotten on it is 110kmph on the Marine Drive. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the bike.

that skidding is there even in japanese bikes, that is something with physics not the bike :)

I feel that it is a design issue in the Pulsar (not to mention the nut crushing effect of the tank design). The larger Japanese bikes do not become highly unstable under sudden braking conditions. The Pulsar, under sudden braking, starts to skid sideways. You can maintain stability if the bike skids while it is straight, but you lose control when it skids onto a side. Over the years, I've learnt to control the braking using a braking-releasing-braking cycle.

Isnt there a ABS system developed for bikes?

Sir,

Thanks for your comment sorry for my belated reply. VERY GOOD ADVISE.

I know I did a very big mistake using well water because I have number of tube wells in my garden I thought that water has no Chlorine but the tube well water contains lot of Iron deposits as our three over head tanks bottom has a layer of rust like grease.

Now I use coolant mixed with distiled water which I buy by a gallon from my battery deler.
