Exper Advice Need

I would like to get some expert advice on suzuki liyana car. I am going to buy 2002 model ( Big S on the front shell ) suzuki liyana car, around 92 k mileage, reg no - JY -XXXX , full option , 1300cc. What would be the market price? Is it worth for 1.5 m ? pl help me. Appreciate all comments.

1.5 seems quite good for it. How's the condition? Please make sure its been maintained properly (I'm not just talking about looks) check the engine for all possible problems and all, find out whether timing belt/chain has been changed, clutch pressure plate (if M/T) Keep an eye out for engine sludge (open oil filler cap and check. or best, remove tappet cover or at least oil sump and check) If it's auto make sure there aren't any probs with the gearbox (smooth shifting etc) Cause for a car thats done 92K, you gotta be careful. Experts can shunt me aside and give proper comments now

AFAIK, Timing Belt should changed at certain K's but not the Chain. If chain equipped, it should last the life time of the Engine it seems.

This is a good price if the car is Brand New , made in Japan and M/T. Compared to a 2002 swift the Lina is a better deal. Watch out for the fuel consumption if its A/T, heard this is one of the main reasons for the low mkt price on this model.

Is this a hatch back or sedan ? Hatch back price is lower, but I dont know why.

Thanks guys, This is made in Japan & M/T but timing belt hasn't been changed, interior and exterior in good condition. According to the seller it does more than 13km/ltr in city limits ( 1300cc ) this is a sedan.

Please can some one explain the fuel consumption on this

good price. Anyway, you can't rely on the ODO meter as there was no JAAI or Auction sheet or any other certificates for these cars. Probably the first owner might have bought this from a sale. As per my experince most of the cars in sales are ODO changed. Once I bought a FB15 from a sale from Paliyagoda and it had only 29000Km on the ODO, but I had to replace cv joints, rear hubs after 10000Kms. those repairs normally comes after 80,000Kms.

Check service records, then you can be satisfied. I don't think you get major engine problems for petrol engine for more than 300,000 km if it's properly maintained.

My former boss has the 1.6 auto Aerio variant, it barely manages 9km/l in Colombo. However it is a spacious and comfy car and I was seriously looking into buying one when I was searching for cars. I'm assuming the 1.3 might be marginally better, but not by much.
