Hi guys,

I'm using an EG8 vti & having a problem in my AC. When I'm driving in day time when the environment is too hot (like 11.00am - 3.00pm these days) after some time like 10,15 kms, the air coming from the AC is not cool. It's also hot as air in out side or more than that where i have to open the glasses & go. So i spoke to my AC mechanic & he is asking me to replace the condenser.

Some of you might know that in EG8 JDM versions, the AC condenser is small not like in the BN single carbs versions. The mechanics logic is since these cars are designed to japan, they've installed a small condenser for their environment conditions. So when the environmet is too hot, the air isn't cooling properly as a result of that small condenser. So he asking me to install a bigger condenser to get it cooled from the AC fan as well as from the radiator fan.

As his words, all the JDM cars in SL have this problem & should change there condensers :) But the thing is we've known this mechanic some time & he is honest up to some extent. Also my closer friend is using a B/N single carb EG with a bigger condenser & he hasn't any issue in cooling. So I dn't know what to trust :) and dat's y i thought to state this to AL & get your ideas/experiences. Specially appreciate EG JDM users could express there experiences with this.

Cheers!

I also have the same issue in mine. A friend suggested the same thing, saying in his car it was changed when he got it. Any ideas about the cost?

well.. there are guys i think running a second fan in there.. but i think the bigger condenser thing is true.. it will set u back around 10K depending on the brand of the condenser... a new one.

Ya..my mechanic also quoted 8500-9000 for a B/N one. He asked me to install a bigger one to get it cooled from the radiator fan too.

hi machan, that price seems to be reasonable..i think i paid somewhere around 10K at that time when i had mine converted to a bigger one.Basically it will sort out all the cooling issues that you experience during the day time. Oh, btw you'll have to rewire the radiator fan so that it'd come on as soon as you turn the AC on hence better colling for the larger unit. You'll have you use an additional relay and make sure you take it to a qualified electrician. Ill drop you a mail tomorrow with some more details bro..:)

I got mine refilled today but not much satisfying results. The guy suggested to do a service of the whole system coz of oil residues + a conversion to R134 from R12 gas, quoted 5k, any ideas regarding this?? Or should I start looking for a larger condenser?

That won't be a permanent solution since mine already running with R134..

Yup it works.. but mine has a large condensor which gets cooled by both fans... Additionally the ac guy wanted to bypass the heater line saying that it will improve the cool more but i didnt want to do that!

Helps to get dirt and other sh*t of from the condenser machan. This increases the airflow through the unit, hence higher efficiency.. :)

That' something most of them try to do even before they fix any other existing issues....and their next fav. is blocking o the fresh-air circulation mode.. :action-smiley-060:

Try Bullion Auto AC, Maharagama. Next to Manel Bakery/ Pastry shop :)

I second that. In Maharagama they are probably the best known.

If you can come towards Nugegoda there are couple of more places.

1. Sithulya which is on pepiliyana road between Gansaba junction and Sunethra Devi pirivena on your left is travelling from Gansaba junction

2. Atco auto AC which is in Jubilee post
