High Rpm On Cold Start

I kind of had a similar issue where the rpm goes high randomly such as when im in a traffic block or wherever its idling.

Cleaning the throttle body solved the issue.

Apparently when there is a carbon build up, it happens.

is it bad for the car if you just start n drive up in the mornings before engine settles in its normal idle speed? or its better to wait until it heats up (until idle goes down)? i have experienced a bit of knocking when i drive straightaway without waiting... do i need a tune up? btw the car is a lancer cs1 (carb model).

Guys, Little problem in my mark ii.. Today morning when started engine, RPM raised to 1500 and become stable after engine got hot to 800. Why is that? Anything wrong?

Yep. Its to help the engine reach operating temp faster.
