hey ppl!

Whats this BOI company that everyone is referring to? So does this company do the conversions here in SL? If so, that’s pretty impressive I guess!

And the black H2.. well, nice to know someone has seen it on the road, cos I never have.. and everyday that I pass that way it’s sitting there doesn’t look like its been moved in quite some time…

And the crash bar on the H2.. from what it looks on the outside, it doesn’t look like it can be removed.. poor bugger.. then again if you’re hit by a H2, I don’t think the crash bar’s absence would make much of a difference.. hehehee!

By the way, someone said that the H2 is also available with a 6.5ltr diesel engine option.. but I didn’t think so.. anyone know about that?

where would you go to maintain these.. that's the question

i dont think Hummer owners send them to USA to get them serviced.. probably might be going to some reputed car-agent for it... i'm guessing D*MO, since they deal in chrysler (and thats American Technology right).. besides shipping that thing halfway around the world probably costs a lot...

sighhhhhhh...man imagine what these people have as incomes.. to be able to afford such vehicles and then to run and maintain them.. i'm guessing a 7 figure paycheck every month....

They all must be good Entrepreneurs.

This is the best time to be a well established Entrepreneur, no sooner the inflation picks up, they become richer, they can increase the price of thier products by a rate more than the inflation rate, yes the rich becomes richer under inflation... I expect to see more high end vehicles blossoming in colombo in the time to come... at least I can gaze :)

Quite right man.. the rich keep getting richer…

Like I once said in the thread about the new S-class.. I think there should be a limit on how much people are allowed to spend on luxuries like this… cos it’s a lot of money going out of the country in the end… Plus, it can feed a whole lot of mouths…

I bet most of you are thinking “this wise guy wouldn’t be saying this if he had a H2 or could afford a new S-class..” well, it may be true, but still if I had someone show to me exactly ho unjustifiable my actions are, I just might not go ahead with it….

Nah that doesnt make sense to me, nothing should be restricted... if a guy really want to buy S class and you dont allow it, who knows he might leave the country with the whole bag of money, there are things that you should restrict like the capital account in the macroeconomic sense... but by noway should consumption be restricted... taxing is fine, that is also up to a certain extent... this country needs to change the paranoid way in which they look at rich people(potential enterpreneurs)... that's jst my two cents!!!

well, you are right... but letting people import such luxuies creates kind of an unhealthy compertition .. say one rich guy imports a 15 mil car... then the next guy not wanting to be outdone imports one for 20 mil.. the next for 25 mil.. and in the end a whole lot of money is going out... but i DO agree with your concept of taxation... if people want to buy big cars well, make them pay thruogh the nose... but let the common man buy a vehicle without having to pay 200% tax....

The Black H2 is owned by this guy (I cant remember his name) but he is an older guy who used to live in New York and owned a casino. He did very well and now he sold it and moved to SL. The guy also has a burgendy s500 and some other cars. He drives it and takes it to Ganga rama temple alot. He is also involved in building condos

Thanks for the info on the black H2… ya there is a S class in that house, though it was too far away to see the exact model.. Like I had said before, the Black H2 (in the house on Queen’s Road) is owned by a Mr. Jayasooriya (so said the Gardner of the house)..

And I saw the Orange H2 (JL -9703) after a long time on the road this evening near liberty… I was right next to it near a traffic light, asd was expecting to hear a big BIG rumple as it pulled away, but man is that a quiet ride.. DAM quiet.. you couldn’t say it was a 6Ltr engine..

And that SUV has been seriously over modified.. WAYYYY too much chrome on that thing…. Kind of looks like an real life version of a cheap plastic kids toy you get for sale on the pavement.. seriously, wayyyy too much chrome…

But still the H2’s sheer size makes people go wow (despite looking like a MEGA kids toy) …

Yeah thats his name. Nice guy. What about the H1 has anyone made a sighting of that one? Is it right hand or left hand drive?

Does Sri Lanka have the H3?

hey

as far a si know only one person has seen the H1.. and that was at the RMV when it had been brought down and awaiting registration.. and i'm not sure if its left/right hand drive...

and i dont think there are any H3s in SL... personally i think the H3 is a very bad job of trying to cut down on weight and cost of the H2... it looks lke a malnurished H2... hehehee! what do you guys think?

right back at you. man right back at you... there should be some serious amendments to the taxations on vehicles...

not just an exponential graph which increases with CIF... right now the tax brackets are too generalized if you ask me... they need to reach into special cases.. maybe even consider fuel consumption of a vehile as wel,l when taxing it... cos the Petroliam corporation is running at a loss, to give cheap petrol to vehiles that burn about 70-80 bucks every KM....

what does everyone else think of this?

The H3 is going to be built in South Africa and some friends of mine has seen them being tested in and around the cities.

Like the H2, I am sure it will be just another SUV. Not really a 4x4.

You said you are gonna do "IT" right, with your conceptual mind you should do summin lik management or economics... with IT itz very little conceptual thinking you got to do... anyway I think there's two sides to your suggetion, i mean in taxation there's principle called simplicity also, and simplicity makes lot of sense in a tax administration sense.

thanks for the compliment man, but i am like crap when it comes to memorizing.. which is why i even did maths for ALs... and ya, i'm going to (NUS) S'pore to do Computer Eng. , and i'm looking forward to a future career in maybe sytstem analysis or system design.....

anyway, i didnt know the H3 was made in SA.. sure was a shock to me!

and seriously how come the H1 in Sri lanka hasnt been spotted... you'd think the owner of that would be running that around colombo more cos its probably relativly cheaper to run (relative to the H2)... and its diesel...

the h1 is not in colombo. it's in the owners estate. the owner is in his 50s and he claims that it's very hard to drive it in colombo

thanks man.... would i be pushing it, if i ask you if you had any pics of it? i'm sure there's loads of us who'd like to see it.... :)

Comp eng at NUS huh? pretty nice man..gdamn ood school. I was actually considering doing the same thing when I got out of school, but it's really quite a boring career path if you ask me (if you enjoy it, go for it though). I made quite a drastic change of path and decided to go into econ...it's a great subject to study...not too many jobs out there, but it's very rewarding work if you are lucky enough.

You really should consider getting into economics though..trust me, there isn't much memorizing to do. I'm an "economist" in training, and I don't memorize a damn thing:) It's really common sense made complex if you ask me..and you seem to have a decent amount of that, which is something Sri Lanka definitely needs! I'm quite impressed with the calibre of economists coming up in Sri Lanka (and there are quite a few very good sri lankan economists working in various aid agencies all over the place), and I know quite a few people studying in various (and very good) schools in the UK and US in development econ and policy studies...hopefully they'll stay true to their roots and use their training in Sri Lanka once they're done (which is my plan so far too!).

Back to the topic of hummers now...!
