Manufacturer Recalls

No doubt our 'agents' need a rather large overhaul in terms of after-sales services etc- that could be another thread i suppose.

...but has anyone experienced working with one of local agents when a recall is announced?

eg: the latest Toyota Prado recently went thru a software upgrade because of a faulty/dangerous Electronic Stability System. Vehicles in the US/Europe were recalled and corrected.

Was the same done in SL?

I imagine that the local agents won't bother with the 'gray' JDM imports (they have a weak but valid excuse)...but wonder if they did the recall for the officially imported cars...

I seem to remember once someone telling me that D*MO did a software upgrade on some Merc E class cars where they actually went around to the owners to do the upgrade. I dont know if anyone here can verify this.

After sales service here in SL is so much to talk about, be it Motor Vehicles or any other household electronics. so i really doubt Agents here really care about critical Firmware upgrades.

Perhaps my example of ECU/software upgrade is a bad one...

I heard around thousands of vehicles all around the world get recall very year. Though Toyota recall was very famous. It's said that recalling is a not very very bad thing happened to the manufacturer but it keep the trust about the manufacturer.
