axio is the JDM version. It does not come brand new. The brand new corolla was more expensive than the civic b/n. So if the 1.6ltr civic is selling at 6.0 mil, i dont see how the b/n corolla can sell 2.0 million lesser

This is all numeric, nothing other than that. increasing/decresing of some tax components will contribute to overall increase/decrease of tax. So it can be represented as a percentage change, compared to previous tax. problem is even a percentage is defined, will the sellers like to reduce the price? but we can get an idea about actual value of the vehicle / minimum value a vehicle would be sold.

If this is true it must be the very basic grade. Most probably without ABS, Power shutters, Climate control etc (things that come as standard even in the Axio X-grade)

There was as simialr price structure when the 121 first came in early 2000. Recon (G grade) was in the 2mil range and the basic brandnew was just bellow 2.5mil

Boys it is hard to give an exact price change due to two reasons

1) Not too many vehicles were imported during the past six months (before the tax slash) to form an average benchmark figure

2) With the tax slash number of variable that contribute to the cost of a vehicle has changed

a) Value of cars in both Japan and Singa

FX rates (in the black market)

c) Other cahrgers i.e Brokerage fees, tips to employees at the harbor (and also custom officer 'pagawa' aka bribes)

I know there's a degree of uncertainty about the future of the new tax scheme and I know that everyone's exited with the fact that there's now a glimpse of a hope of buying a new car. But what's with the hurry boys???? Wait for the majority of the new stock to hit the local car sales that'll give you more options and also help you to negotiate a better deal at the time of purchase.

Rough figures are as follows

hatchbacks (including belta) - mid 2mil

sedans (141, allion, vios etc) - 3 - 4mil

petrol SUVs (CRX, XTrail) - 5-6mil

Petrol luxury SUV's (V93, LC120) - 10mil and up

Now go talk to your bank/leasing company and see the maximum amount you can borrow and then do some research and narrow down what you want to buy. So by the time there's ample stock in the market you are all ready to buy your new set of wheels. Happy hunting.

Edit : Forgot to add demurrage chargers for the list of costs in volved. Back in the days once a car is unloaded from a RoRo it only takes about 48 hours to clear the customs but with the sudden influx it takes upto 4-5 working days now, having to pay atleast 2 days of demurrage.
