I generally buy mine at Arpico.... you know, those little tree thingys. I did see some interesting looking ones at Cool Planet though.

I think those tree like thingies are the safest option when it comes to choosing the best type of perfume. I have had bad experiences with some of the other types. Once i used one of those liquid type ones which you have to fit on an A/C vent and one day the liquid was evaporated from the bottle and it was dripping on the A/C vent. The awful thing was that the A/C vent was mildly melted by the perfume.

Then i reverted to the old fashioned crystalline type air-conditioners which are cheap. But i had the same bad experience when once i parked my car in Hot weather under direct sunlight. Again the air-conditioner was evaporated. actually it was liquidated and spilled all over the dash board ruining its finish. :(

So, be careful when you select your air-conditioner type.

Makes you wonder what breathing that stuff does for you.

Personally I love those cube type room fresheners.

Side effect is my car reminds people of a classy toilet...

Does anyone know what's the perfume used in japanese recon vehicles. It's the same smell across most of unreg used cars and its cool.

Don't take my word for it, but I recall reading somewhere that that fragrance is toxic. I'm not too sure though.

Dont buy the liquid stuff...ruins everything it touches.......safest would be the pine tree thingy's :)

But all the air freshner in the world is shot straight to hell with one Good Fart

I've actually got a aerosol spray. Same company as the tree freshners, same sent. Generally put a few squirts on the tree from time to time, just in case it stains. Works ok like that.

Yes the new car smell is caused by VOC's in the plastic, fabrics, glue etc that are released from interior components when parts are new. The VOC's (Volatile Organic Componenets) can be very toxic to your health but fortunately these dissapear after a little while and even if you get a build up of this in a closed car on a warm day this will dissipate quite quickly as you open the doors as fresh air enters.

yeah, it could be the explanation for brand new vehicles. But i noticed this smell on japanese used and recon vehicles particularly. Heard its a common perfume used in japan, not sure though.
