Auto Acceleration

ransam

Question

I recently repaird the A/C of my Ford Laser.

Now when I switch on the A/C the car accelerates automatically upto 2000 rpm.

If I take the foot from the accelerator while driving car dosen't slow down when the A/C is on.

Any help highly appreciated

there is an AC idle up valve in most systems and chances are your repair guy hadn't fixed it properly or haven't adjusted it right.

quite and easy fix. i'd suggest you take it to the same chap and ask him to sort it out for you.

If you put your foot behind the accelarator peddle(when idle) and then pull it toward you ,then if the RPM drops,it might be problem with the accelarator cable or the throttle position sensor on newer cars.

On a funny side, you can get the same effect if you pull the choke while driving (old model car.

if it is the model after '99.. it could be the TPS or the AC idle up, which is located under the throttle body. I had a similar issue..
