Go for a G grade axio, if u cant afford for a G geade then go for the Allion rather than ending up with a X grade Axio which doesnt even have a RPM meter & climate control A/C

Correct me if i'm wrong, but do you really think paying 200k-400k more for a a tachometer and a switch that self controls cabin temp is worth it?

Wonder whether Nissan OR Presea rocks!

U guys know why?

Even 1996 Nissan Presea CTII has all these options which you looking from 2010 Axio.

like RPM Meter & Climate Controll AC with full option. :D

But SL people want either Corolla or Sunny know. Cant Help! :D

you dont really have to pay more. For 4.3mn u can get a 2006 model Allion which came as brand new that has all the options rather than buying a 2007 model basic Axio X grade. otherwise u can import an Axio X grade personally and save bunch of your notes

I was talking about the difference between the 'X' and the 'G'. Not the allion, nor even the presea for that matter. I was raisin the point since you said "if you cant afford the G, dont settle for the X". I cant beleive i'm asking this but what's the price difference between a X and a G with the same YOM. THAT is the price difference i'm talking to.

@ Uditha: I dont think a tacho has anything to do with the age of the car. I know of pre 1990 vehicles that have them too.

two thumbs up for that.. Wondering why people dumping helluva lot of money on these .. leave the new/unreg ones out, a used 97 110 at close to 2 mil, how about that. :D

I must say I have been blessed so far to have avoided the dilemma of trying to figure out which of these models are worse than the other.

However for the amount of money that these cars go for, far far better cars are there for purchase. Cars that will give all these elusive attributes that you guys are looking for.... If I am not mistaken an unregistered Premio is now around 6 million... wow! If I had that much money for a car, I would buy 2 E36s, 2 Alfas and squeeze in a P11 somehow... :)

I still might have some money left over to insure all the cars too... :) There will never be a dull day with that stable.

An un-rg for 6mill is a bargain if 1500cc and maroon

Whell a e46 320d would be better for about half the price

If u'r daddy is paying for the maintainanace :D

Ah that stupid notion that Toyotas and other Jap cars are 'cheap' to maintain... ;)

I don't know if you can get e46 320d for 3 mil, but if you do then you have 3m in the bank to pay for maintenance... or you can just buy 2 :D

are they or aren't they?

my (limited) euro vs. jap experience so far has been that, for common jap vehicles, it's easy to find mechanics who have working experience with the car (i.e. less need to pay premium labour rates for "experts"), and it's often possible to find cheap used/duplicate parts (heck, I have a hard time even finding genuine parts!)

but if you compare apples to applies (genuine parts from agents or other reputable importer; with adjustments for longevity of parts) how does it stack up?

U probably can get an early e46 (99 model) with 65-6XXX series plates. But the car would have easily done over 150000 miles, given the fact that most of it were imported on permits by doctors and were used quite harshly (not generalising, but its the case more often than not). Therefore u probably can get one of those hacked ones for around 3 mill. A well maintained and cared for E46 older version diesel and petrols go over 3.5 mill. If your looking for a barging when hunting for a BMW, ofcourse maintanance is gonna be high. Its like getting jiggy with a angelina julie look a like courtesan, it might be cheap fun, but expensive medical care over the next decade or so is a risk u run.

would you reckon that a more than a decade old 65XXXX bmw in practically best possible condition is going to deliver the same kind of experience as a new premio does?

I would be willing to bet that in comfort, driving pleasure, "feel good factor" etc the BMW would have the edge by far.

An unreg allion premio or similar WILL have the advantage that as practically new cars, they wont need any major rectification work for a couple of years. Whereas if you do buy an older euro, you will need to initially set aside some time/funds to sort out the wear and tear that will inevitably be present in a car thats been used in SL conditions for a few years.

i think e46 will only be more comfy than premio only when the roads get very rough, where beemer's superior suspension architecture bear fruits. otherwise the more spacious and softly tuned premio will be more comfy. bmw's are traditionally tuned with a handling bias and 3 series compromises a great deal of needed interior space to support RWD platform.

My take is, you get a 'hacked out' E46, and spend a bit and still you will end up with a car that is far better than the other models in question here.... You will still have a plenty of dough left behind from that original 7 million purchase price.

Unless of course we are taking of A32s here... :) Thats a different league altogether.

I agree that the allion / premio cars are more spacious than the e46, but as previously mentioned u dont get the same responsiveness and driving pleasure. I own a 04 allion my self and love it to bits, but u just can't compare it with 04 e46 i have in the comfort, driving pleasure and power departments.

@ Watchman - U R quite right about about the absurdity of paying 300k-400k extra for these options.

@ JAFF-

Suggest you do a bit of searching before advising. There's no necessity to go for a "G" grade Axio to have the RPM meter in the dash. The X grades that come as HID selection as well as the special editions have the RPM meter. If you personally import these, there won't be much of a difference in the price paid for these special versions against the basic X grade. I happen to know a couple of people who did this and are quite happy about the value for money factor.

how much did your '04 e46 cost? and how much is '08 premio?
