any place in darley road will tint ur car.. and they do an ok job.. but the quality is a differnt matter. i think u can get ur whole car done within 8K.. but in the long run the 3M tint is the best.. i am planning on getting the windshield done tomorrow its gonna set me back 12K.

wow..... just get it done at darley road. The two front windows and the upper portion of the front windshields cost me only 600 rupees. In most cases the cheap tint should be sufficient and you can probably get it tinted over and over again before you reach the price of 3m tint.

agree..

plus when a cops stops you in a week or two and asks you to remove your tint, would you rather peel off a Rs.18000 tint-job or a Rs.600 tintjob. :)

yeah darley road is fine if u want all purpling and cracking after a while.. and it doesnt do much for sun protection and all.. i had the previous ride done in darley road.. but was a good job lasted around 5 years with purpling..

but i am just going to get the front sceen done in transperent crystaline for heat reductiona and UV.. the B4 comes with uv cut on the other glasses so no need to worry on that thank god...

Best to do the crystalline tint on the windshield and front windows, and darker tint on the rears- cops are only particular about seeing who's in the front seats, oddly enough.

There is a definite difference between 3M and the cheaper stuff, mainly the heat rejection. If its looks you're going for, get the cheap stuff, but if its to preserve your interior and AC cooling, go with 3M.

I think it's also up to the tinting places to advise that front window (dark) tinting is not allowed. As far as I know, they're still saying the law is not being enforced and trying to rip customers off (I don't know about Kleen Park, but Darley Road joints definitely do this). I guess you get what you pay for.

well, the enforcing is not exactly consistent... recently I've seen two vehicles with very dark tints on front windows (with a cutout to see the rear view mirror) in Colombo; one was a 407 and the other was a Kyron. on the other hand a friend's March was copped and she had to go show the car to cops after removing the tint.

U guys r talking about tinting

While i'm hiding my tinted vehicle from the cops

Unfortunately i spent 35k on 3m s all around it

You should have done the crystaline tint for the same price... :) :) Then you will never have problems with cops..!!

(It only cost me 30K..)

For those who don't know abt this tint to go the following link-

Luxury vehicles are exempt from the tint ban... :action-smiley-060:

Since you got this a year ago and are still promoting it, I guess you must be very happy with the result.. do you have any kind of measure of how effective it's been - e.g. when the car is parked in the sun it doesn't get as hot inside as it used to, etc.?

and do you also need to use a windscreen reflector when parked or is the 3m stuff good enough?

When you are parking in the sun you will defenetly have to use a reflector mate. Christaline is not that heat-proof. But i can tell you its better than the light tint. But i think it will not beat the darkest 3M tint.. :) But it sure beat darly-road light tint as i tinted one car from darly-road.. :)

Best thing for me is that i won't have problems with cops and at the same time it reduces some amount of heat from the sun.. :)

When you go to 3M for crystaline tint they will show you that 0% heat is comming to their UV light. But its not the case for sun. You get some amount of heat from the sun. Its like 50:50 story. I can def tell you it will not 100% reduce heat..

thanks for the info... anyway for the windscreen the darleyroad stuff is anyway not an option (except for a strip at the top), so the only option for the windscreen proper is the 3M... any idea if they can do it in segments? i.e. a dark strip for a few inches at the top and the clear film for the rest?

and re. windscreen reflectors, the conventional size available in darley road is too small for me, but there's a place in wattala that said they can do custom sizes... will get that done soon, maybe for front windows as well.

thanks... and checking through the benefits of AAC membership (related to my question on whether it's worth to renew) they do say there's a 7% discount on 3M tints @ Kleen Park. If the discount is valid then the membership could well be worth while :)
