  1. I ll just leave this here,
  2. What's the battery you have in her? Maybe a slightly larger battery will suffice without meddling with the alternator, besides better spark as well. And that's an electric winch right?
  3. Thank you for this! In a world with hideous so called hatchbacks posing as 4x4s And mpg crap, value for money, euros This Is like therapy, made my day!
  4. Actually this was a whole ago, my wife had an exam, so I was parked beside a road in Colombo, in no way was I blocking any path, i was parked in the main road, adjacent to his entrance to the main road besides what can a tiny car like this block, well, so a fella in a Range Rover came from a private road exiting to the main road and made a scene, with specific references to the car being small blah blah, his being big and wide, It not being my turf and since it was in front of the head office of the governing body of my career, where my wife went for the exams, I just moved the tiny car about 5 inches forward just for his sake, whereas he had atleast 3 feet both sides to enter into the main road, I was not in anyway encroaching into the private road whatsoever and nor was I blocking it, Yea probably, but this one got pretty rich pretty fast Lol Hence thereafter gradually phased out both my keis as there is no point being smart and trying to commute efficiently in a country like this. As numerous stunts from buses and lorries and noobs in suvs, on a daily run will one day end up with some accident. Like my old uncle used to say, find the largest lump of metal between you and the car or tree you are going to crash with.
  5. Nice review, this was one of my wifes first cars, bought one in 2017 after the kei boom Few suggestions, get some dust trap carpeting done, including the rear exposed metal areas, And mudflaps! Very rare but useful. Also installing fog lamps is a diy job, u can get em off ebay, Ours was a less blingy one but I'm sure it did 19 to 20kmpl given that we ran it inclines and slopes, Also the pulling power was decent for its size, manage about 2 100kg persons plug luggage when needed. Its size and economy made it very useful, so much we used it quite often, One such time we were badly harassed by a c*nt in a European suv, given the fact I owned and have owned a plethora of large suvs that was a moral turning point and we gave it away thereafter. And buy a spare wheel, dunlop enasaves have sidewall issues
  6. Notoriously slow vehicle for its class, something is very wrong about the price hes asking, compared to the market
  7. The elusive 1000km oil change!

So I asked the retailer in UK from whom I purchased the Vitara, he insisted on the 1000km oil change,

But my importer said to run it 5000km, to add the so called engineer at A*W Pitstop also adviced to run 2500km-5000km prior to the break in oil change.

Also he insisted the engine was broken in on a table prior to installation and not to worry. This is when the car manual explicitly mentions to break in and to time the turbo prior to turning off

Well it seems that the car knows better than all of us! It displayed this today just at 1300km

  8. We ll be able to buy a magical 1l of 0w-20 synthetic oil for the price of 500ml hand sanitizer soon, and the oil filter for the price of 5+ masks

  9. It’s relearning the idle sequence, drive it normally, will come back to normal
  10. This is the bottom line Buy the Vitz, it's cheap to run, unrefined and somewhat new. basically a 1000cc lorry that holds value. Used Aquas here have run big miles, have reverse running gauges and worn off hybrid gear, and thus depreciating badly.
  11. So a certain politician tells me, he had a Montero back in the early 2000s, YOM 2003, he had run it for 200,000km plus and was given an upgrade, it was his first official car, had a lot if sentimental stuff and was previously used by another kingpin polician.

recently he had seen it in a famous car sale in Kottawa region. Now it presents as a 97,000km 3rd owner lady driven car. He tells me the no of owners have been changed, I've no clue how.

I'm not sure, hes a bit senile but a rather shady guy himself. He just says either it's not that car or someone has altered the rego so much even the owners are different.

  12. For almost 20 years my dad has been scraping and dinging my cars, his response it's just metal go fix it.

Today I dinged his Vitara by accident., hes called out war now.

He went all Martin Luther King on me with the speeches.

  13. I've used STP total fuel system cleaner and it helps taking out minor deposits on floaters
  14. The tech is ages old, 90s van like, mine takes like 5min to update after a 1000 buck topup.
  15. Absolutely, the higher ply makes the tyres a bit hard to use, and I’ve also noticed the overall texture of the rubber between the jdm tyre and the Indonesian tyre / outsourced tyre of the same brand has different mileages. the jdm Bridgestone is very resistant to wearing, in turn continental and Michelin are softer tyres, tend to rub off early. once due to a similar emergency like OP mentioned, I was forced to purchase a pair of tyres outstation, few km off Negombo, the brand was Westlake, after using them for a while, I realized they made a very good tyre, rather comfortable, good handling and I ended up swapping the other 2 in a few weeks, those tyres managed like 40,000km with no issues, The brand is rare now locally. Ages ago my dad got down a Bridgestone tyre set for a van we had, he bought them abroad and imported the set with a hefty duty. The best part was he missed the fact they were LT tyres, was so uncomfortable that I’m sure it led to the onset of me losing my milk teeth lol. Was very hard to rub off and thereby I guess he binned them like after 20000km. Another good tyre I’ve enjoyed running down was the Maxxis Mudder Buckshot, 33s on my defender, precursor to the Maxxis Bighorn, was a really soft tyre, no punctures, insane grip, made even a defender comfortable. Downside i didn’t need a horn after 60kmph as it sounded like a small passenger aircraft. The hum.
  16. Lovely car, but not the recipe for a beginner. As a first car I believe you expect reliability A to b and all that, cheap to run None of the above in this car sadly More or less for a intermediate as a weekend project till it's in good nick. If you have the funds, buy it cheap as a hobby car, rebuild it slowly, while you have a main daily runner. But if you are scraping savings and getting into loans leases, go far far away from these, The involved costs and requirement of parts and attention is far beyond an average user and investment point of view, just a black hole
  17. I dont really see big issue here, newer coolants have a bit of an oily component, It is most certainly not diluted enough. Also if oil was mixing with coolant it will be like greyish or brownish. Also the bubbling, some cars, esp diesels have water pumps that can agitate the flow to mimick bubbling, so a trained mechanics eye may help than self diagnosis.
  18. Depends on your budget, top end Pirelli, Bridgestone, Good Year, Michelin, Continental Intermediate - Yokohama, Maxxis, Nankang, Kumho, cheap - Minerva, gt radial, federal, mileage and comfort + Wear may vary but have used all of the above brands and had no issues.

    VIN Number in Toyota CHR

    Jpcenter, you gotta pay though
  20. Dunlop enasave, I've mentioned this so many times. A real crappy tire Go to tyre repair place, u ll see atleast one of these with a sidewall issue, notoriously bought in with wagon r and the kei boom of 2017, and Nissan leafs Suggestion would be to change all tyres as it's a matter of time that the rest will have sidewall punctures or bubbles.

    Chassis no.
  22. You spoke of a v75 montero above hence my answer. Anyhow the 3000cc 6g72, 3500cc 6g74 petrol does like 6kmpl outstation, 2 to 4 kmpl in traffic depending on your engine condition. Older they get the more they consume. They arent that peculiarly fast either. Also the tired gearboxes add to it If you really want petrol, the 3.8l 6g75 Is the gem, pulls like a train, smooth as a euro. All of these are advised to run on 95Oc If you are that concerned about fuel economy, you are way off on the type of vehicle you are considering mate, these aren't cheap to run or maintain, hence why the 2007 montero petrol is falling in value below the montero sport. even the diesel 2013 lot ain't that good on fuel, this very moment I've run from kandy to Colombo on a montero diesel 4m41, and 3000 bucks super diesel was just enough to make it to Colombo, just 112 km, with 22 litres 5kmpl long distance. For other concerned readers.... Lol japan suv, typical market lingo.. These things are made up by sellers and grey importers. because most of the Thailand SUVs were brand new, Fortuner, Montero sport, L200 Mux etc, bought by agents so they had no control, if things went well they be out of business by now. As for the thailand made Hilux since 2005, they say "top badu" because they bought em and sold them via grey channels. They discriminate the l200 as its thailand, and mostly agent imported other than the uk ones. Yet they embrace the Thailand hilux? See a pattern ? The 2003 to 2007 montero sport yet was made in japan, again mostly got down via agents, but they say, "owa adinne Naha, lorry wage". They did this to the entire l200 lineage. Simple Marketing jargon for them to make their buck of the typical gullible sri lankan. A few in the real world know that the 150 Prado, some units here were made in china, And some made in Bangalore, I know because a friend studied there a while ago. They muffle that history as they want to continue their sale, again to add they say the Toyota lanka prado with the rear door spare wheel has less spec, blah blah. If course the 5l engine they bought was dumb. To add u realise that the company stopped production of the montero, yet they are continuing their montero sport lineage, this is because it was insanely successful in other merging markets and in cult levels, and now they are letting it wash into larger European markets as well. They did the same with the raize, the community has been brainwashed so well they have embraced the second smallest unreg suv they can buy and the smallest 4 door SUV they can buy for 6.6 million. First being the pre 2019 jimny Welcome to add opinions @Devinda_Z @iRage @AVANTE @fiat fan @ziyard_9834
  23. To me by the looks of it you had a fuel pump or fuel delivery issue, initially Also could be a valve stuck open, owing to the reason why the crank is not turning. Anyhow u will need to take it apart. Also do elaborate what the engine is, fuel the what the car is and the transmission type.
