May be it is not the operation of the power shutter but the time delay involved in bringing it down. Do you observe any unusual alarm/fault indicators appearing and going off in the dash board during this starting process?

Modulator is a low cost option and a simple DIY job. Most of auto electrical shops have them. price is around Rs. 250~350/=. The issue with these type of converters is that some times it is not as clear as original setup and gives lot of noise (chara chara sound) once you install the converter the tuning frequency appear in your radio set is not the actual frequency tuned in. but you can manage that with storing your favorite channels using memory function

A Fuel Economical Car Recommendation
XBeat replied to sharkteeth's question in Car Buying Information
For doctor sunny's the market price is about 150K ~200K below the price they have asked. A friend sold a 1994 FB14 Manual for 1.45 M last week. I have no Idea about other brands -

Main purpose of Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker is to prevent electrocution in a situation a person touching the frame of the machine during a current leakage fault. If you have a good earth you can reduce the risk. But installing an earth with a resistance less than 10 Ohms is a costly job unless you have very good soil conditions (E.g Marshland). If the welding genrator is not for permanent use; an alternative is to use the existing system earth and buy a very good pair of safety shoes and gloves

Why Does Headlight Brightness Reduce?
XBeat replied to Pramuditha.d's question in Electrical problems
PVC insulated wires do not get aging effects in 12 years (in a Japanese car). One possibility is that the clips inside the bulb holder is oxidized and presenting a voltage drop due to high contact resistance. Try cleaning them (use a sand paper and a Big safety pin). It may help resolve the problem. If you suspect that the wiring harness has an insulation breakdown; you can check it by providing a direct supply from the battery to the lamp. If the brightness increases; then the fault can be the wiring harness or holder.or switch. -
Air Bags are not serviceable items. In case of an accident you have to remove them completely or replace them. If not messed up, the self test at the start up is a reliable diagnostic. If you are in doubt can get the system scanned; the results will show that the airbag system is at fault.

I'm not against hybrid cars or the hybrid technology. I don't by a prius simply because I can't afford it. I can't afford more than 2.5M for a car and I think in general more than 50% of sri lankan car byers can't afford for a car more than that amount. Until such time the price tag of a hybrid fall to that level it will not be the majorities ride.

photos of a similar car can be seen in in AL for sale advertiesments

Get done a compression test on your engine. Base on the results you can accurately say what repairs are required to be done. I don't no whether Uni*Mo is doing it. Me think that reputed places like edir*sinha Br0*s are doing it.

If you can invest on 4W LED instead of 18W CFL you can reduce your system capacity significantly and save the cost. There are several local LED manufactures who offers the bulbs at lesser cost than at Pettah market with a warrenty Or else if you are interested you can assemble LED bulbs yourself. 1st cross street vendors have all the components with them for sale. It is a bit tedious task since you have to spent time in soldering the bulbs

Total load of the vehicle will distributed symmetrically over the four wheels. There fore it is not required to go for a 03 Ton or 02 Ton jack since you will be replacing one tire at a time using the jack. something around 1.5 Ton will do the job

If u were able to measure the input current using a clamp meter (usually electricians have those) while you were testing the welding unit; it will be really help full to decide the actual load current. The required breaker capacity can be selected accordingly

If the Welding transformer is of Oil Bath Type the current drawn by it is low. Generally at full load single phase it is around 30A for a 250A transformer . Irrespective of the type whether it is 'Oil bath" or "air cooled" you should be able to plug it on No Load, The general no load current (i.e when not welding) is around 3~ 6 Ampere. If you set the welding current to about 120A then it can be operated from a 15A socket outlet. It is better to tap the welder supply before the trip switch of the house to avoid 01. Unnecessary Tripping due to earth leakage 02. Overloading of the cables inside conduites It is not necessary to connect the frame earth of the welder to start welding. The eath is provided there for protection from the ground faults. If the welder keeps on tripping even on no load then it must have a short circuit fault inside ( Can be a loosen phase lead touching the body or neutral; or the worst case the transformer winding has a short circuit) You will get a "thadi shock" only if your body become a part of conductive path between +ve and -ve terminals to create a close circuit between the two.

There are several facts to consider in this case For a 250 A welding current the in put capacity is around 9.5 kW approximately. this means you may require approximately 41 A in 1 Phase or 14A in three phase. General domestic connection in 1Phsae is 30A. Since LECO/CEB is not giving multiple connections to a single consumer adresss you may require to upgrade your connection to 60A single phase or 30A three Phase. If you upgrade for 60A Single phase it is more suitable to install a 63A adjustable MCCB than 40A Breaker and fuse combination. using a common earth is more reliable and safer than two seperate earths. You may require an RCCB 63A, 100mA in upstream for protection.
