Does it have a windscreen heater? If so that would solve your problem.

Otherwise there "may be" some addon you could install. But need to be careful as it could put an unnecessary drain on the battery. Usually windscreen heaters come with a timer and automatically turn themselves after the windscreen is demisted..

If there are any other options I would like to know myself too... ;)

does the "mist" appear on the inside of the glass or the outside?

if it's the outside, most probably you have a leak from the dashboard vents of the ac...

so even when you haven't selected, the ac is actually hitting you windshield.

If the "mist" is forming on the inside of the glass, you can simple choose to direct the cool air to hit the windshield and it will go away in a few seconds

my windscreen is misting up with A/C at nights.pls advice to get rid of this..thank you..

Huh? Turning on the A/C on the 'cold' setting and diverting the air flow to the windscreen should fix this shouldn't it?

If you set temperature very low during night you will have mist in the outside of windscreen. I have faced this and just use the wipers. If it is inside, just set the temperature arournd 25C and direct the air floor to windscreen.

thank very much buddies...i will try these and let u know about the improvement...the mist gets collected outside the windscreen..when i touched the glass its too cold..there's no point in turning off AC...i have to check the draining vents..

machang, where do you live? Is it a cold climate?

Else, your AirCon works REALLY well!! If so turning down the aircon SHOULD prevent the condensation.

you have a leak there and the dash will have to come out for you to seal it up.

had a similar situ in my car sometime back.

I just used wipers and had the washer fluid topped up at all times :)

Some cars have A/C vents that vent air directly to the windscreen. In my case there are number of buttons to change where the A/C draft should come. To the bust area, to the leg area, both to the bust area and leg area and then there's the button to send it to the windscreen.

If at all if you have missed this you could select an appropriate button or lever position or whatever to reduce or stop the AC flow to the windscreen. But most probably this feature is missing from your vehicle. In which case a solution would be as suggested above is to keep the AC blower to a not so high value..

I use a fairly old car and the mist during rain is quite a problem at times....any idea to fix this one........forget the AC even when i close the windows the mist builds up quickly on a rainy day. :(

i live in a fairly hot climate buddy.

it's a small issue machang. there are flaps that open and close to direct air flow.

I'm guessing that you have an issue with these not closing properly.

take it to an ac joint and get the fellows to sort it for you.

only hitch is that most probably the bas board might have to be removed. bit of a bitch!

Rameez if you are talking about mist that builds on the inside of the windscreen on a rainy day, then you are out of luck mate :) Usually having the AC on sorts that problem out. It is just due to the humidity in our country the the rain cools the windscreen on which condensation settles in. This is worse on a rainy day due to closed windows restricting airflow and allowing extra humidity (due to breathing) build up.

switching to heater wont help? or even just knock off the ac for a bit...

also, i thought the issue was condensation on the outside of the windshield

yes don tht was wht i was talking about........hell of a time these days with me wiping the windscreen......even for a fairly short journey.... :(

ripper now that you mentioned if I fix an AC and switch it on would that solve the problem to a certain extent.

obviously if using wipers helps to clear the mist, it's forming on the outside.

which means the vents closest to the windshield is blowing cool air on to the windscreen even when you haven't selected it to do so.

which in turn mean there is a leak in there... easy fix but taking the dash out is the only biggie.

I had an issue where my cd's would skip after while and not play at all.

i had a leak right over the headunit and cool air was hitting it making water droplets form on the disc surface...

little bit glue and some sponge sorted the problem out.

Well if your car doesn't have AC, turn the window down a bit as that helps. Also like Ripper suggested turn the heater on and direct the airflow at the windscreen.

Thanks for the info mate.I too have the same problem.I think most probably this is the reason.

When you driving at night with AC on, windscreen will get cold. if it is much cooler than the outside atmosphere, mist will be concentrate on outside of the windscreen. Same as when you pour cold water into a glass, mist will be on the outside of the glass.

The solution would be to heat up the windscreen and mist will disappear. I am regularly facing this problem while driving at night. My solution is to increase the temperature from AC temperature controller and put the air flow into the windscreen. Not for long , about a minute . Then the mist will be gone. But it again comes on after an hour or so. A proper adjustment of temperature inside the car should keep out this problem. But honestly I haven't been able to find that adjustment for myself yet. LOL.

my dad car had a similar problem...the thing was he didn't have the gearbox covered or something to stop the heat entering the car!....and when the heat reaches the windscreen it forms mist...your car could have the same problem

Yes... we all cover our gear boxes with bed sheets also. :) To stop the heat from reaching the windscreen.

obviously you need a high thread count sheet. Regular bed sheets do not work all that well.
