im thinking to buy this car. the current price for 2001 model is 13.75 lks to 14.75lks. i think this is a cheap price for a toyota car. because old models like ae100 goes around 12 laks. is soluna a bad car? or what is the reason for this price?

Soluna is not a bad car..it's as reliable as AE 100..there is a reason that you don't see much of a price difference of AE 100 manufactured in 90s and SOluna early 2000 model..that's because AE 100 mostly come with Auto transmission as Soluna comes with manual transmission..and there is a possibility that it may assemble in some other country.Like vios and hilux made in Thailand

all i can say about soluna is this.

soulana is the successor/ next generation of the Toyota Tercel/Corse

and most of the soluna's in SL is assembled in Singapore or other places not directly from japan.

Soluna was never assembled or made in Japan. It was only made in Thailand, using some of the presses of Tercel. Purpose of Soluna was to run taxis in countries like Thailand and Indonesia.

If you see a Soluna with country of origin as Japan, it's wrong. The reason for that is the old yellow/orange registration book that came before 2002 did not have a field called 'Country of Origin'. When the ownership changed hands, a vigilant person can fill in Japan as the COO on the transfer form and voila, it would appear as Japan in the new (Blue or Pink) registration book. That's why you see Honda Citys, Vioss and Solunas with COO as Japan, although they were never made there. Hell, I have even seen a Perodua that was advertised with the statement 'Country of Origin Japan not Malaysia!':D

I've seen registration books of some FB15's with the V*P badge (Leather interior) COO marked as Singapore although there is no nissan assembling plant in Singapore. But I've heard that FB15 V*P models are built in japan for export to Singapore. Correct me if Im wrong.

I believe you are right on that one.

Note that "Country of Origin" is not the country where the car is assembled. It's the country where the car is shipped to Sri Lanka from.

For example,

Honda City/Toyota Vios/Toyota Soluna (Recon cars)- Made/assembled in Thailand and shipped to Sri Lanka from Singapore. So Country of Origin = Singapore

Honda Fit Aria (Recon cars) - Made/assembled in Thailand and shipped to Sri Lanka from Japan. So Country of Origin = Japan

Maruti Crapcars - Made/assembled in India and shipped to Sri Lanka from India. So Country of Origin = India

got it thanx, but most people think that the coo is where the car was made.

Majority of the time that's correct but not always.

However, with Singapore cars, the country of origin would be Singapore but nearly all the cars are built outside Singapore.

nope, he can sell it as the only made-in-japan Peugeot 406 in Sri Lanka.... could even charge a premium using a "jap cars don't depreciate" type argument.

btw techlove, was the mistake on the form already when you got the car, or the mistake was made when transferring to your name?

Can you please tell fuel consumption of Toyota soluna

Can you please tell fuel consumption of Toyota soluna

Our company has a Soluna. It is a good reliable econo box. It does ave.10 km/Lt in city driving. Our drivers never think of fuel consumption, Therefore I think it should do better if you drive in a better way.

Yes, there were two Perodua Kelisa advertisements on Autolanka saying they were made in Japan not in Malaysia. In one advertisement there was a photo of CR and country of origin was Japan.

I was surprised and checked with Unimo too. But Unimo guys told me that Parodua never assembled in Japan and they also had same problem how the country of origin became Japan.

Ha Ha now I know how it happened :) .
