No Takers?

You posted an interior photo with the optional on-dash organizer tray. I am pretty sure that is causing a lot of confusion :)

I am guessing it is or a derivative of the Daihatsu Mira/Cuore (L200)...by the look of the front lights it could be a

The dashboard was intentional - i had not seen one before. It is indeed a dai derivative and precisely what the image depicts. Correct!

Right so the car in question is a Perodua Kancil - a derivative of Daihatsu Mira/Cuore. Kancil refers to the mouse-deer aka Chevrotain- the spotted variant is found in Sri Lanka and known as "meeminna".

Sub-brand of a Chinese Fruit? The first and most common batch of cars from the maker was indeed a fruit :D

I mean c'mon..the name is borderline profanity that James Bond should get p***ed off. Hmm...come to think of it..might be a compliment about what complements a man.

hahaha so since the cat is well and truly out of the bag the answer is

*dong*feng 007/Jaecoo 007 brought to you by ....drumroll.... Chery! The makers who generously gave us the Chery QQ - a car that gave Sri Lankan's a negative impression on Chinese autos.

Right moving away from the chinese brands ....here's something a little different.

If you are a fan of old British Comedy (I'm not sure if this show ever aired here though) you might recognize this car from the show. Now, I have not seen this particular model in Sri Lanka at all. BUT this model is essentially a badge-engineered car from a different car maker's model. The car maker is popular in Sri Lanka, but the base model too is rare in SL. A derivative of the base model was discussed in this forum a long time ago.

Thats the one that looks like Range Rover right?

I can say Sri Lanka is far ahead of adopting the Chinese brands

Yes the rear lights and design language is similar. Two small differences on close inspection the SUV has the continuous red line on top as opposed to the sedan where the continuous red line is on the bottom. There's just too many models to keep track of now. BTW want to have a guess on the current trivia?

Oh, it was on SL TV! I am pretty sure back in the day some of the posh Colombo 7 aunties based their personality traits on Hyacinth and were desperately trying to turn their husbands into Richards...but needless to say it was all in the bucket :)

I don't think I have seen the car with the same badge as the car from the TV show either.
As for the base model... actually, back in the day it wasn't that rare. There were more from the class competitors, true, but still quite a few around. It was the generation after this one that made the model much more mainstream. We have to keep in mind that back in the day, the number of cars imported was nowhere close to what it is now.

Why not talk about the Japanese Ballade that made way for the Brits to get back on their feet. StanDard was 3 when it came to performance.

True that our guys will take any junk that they can get. Who in the world buys those quad car kind of stuff made by unknown entities. I warned my old work place about these but I can see they have also introduced a shit bucket from China. I feel sad for people buying the crappy ones for the price.
