Why would a prius driver need a radar detector? Don't they always drive under the speed limit to save gas?

Yes but I have seen a Prius driving fast always in baseline road. The thing has a good acceleration. But unfortunately lot of them are in wrong hands.

when bought from e bay , and if customs decide to detain the parcel it costing alot to clear , previously i bought from a place in armor street now it is closed

if anyone knows a place or person bringing down , great help,

BTW prius 1.8 is having a very good acceleration " The [Ni-MH] battery module carries over from the tried-and-true technology from the current Prius. With a larger 1.8L engine and a net horsepower of 134hp, internal tests show that the 2010 Toyota Prius 0-60 mph (~0-100 km/h) timing has dropped to 9.8 seconds, comparable to a mid-size sedan with a 2.4-liter engine" Toyota.com

i have being doing 100+ kmph in colombo (including baseline road many times, and top speed i've done is 178Kmph ( i have only being using the prius for 2months)

good thing is it still gives average of 21.4 km/l

you should not be proud of driving at 100 kmph+ inside colombo. That's an idiotic and dangerous thing to do especially on baseline. I wish one of those container truck drivers will switch lanes while your going at 178. The result of you crashing into the container would make a excellent photo shoot. The best thing is the truck driver would probably escape without a single scratch.

You may be the guy that I have referred. Is your plate KM-***7 or something? But still opening 3 treads for same question is dumb. :)

Just out of curiosity, if the battery runs out, can you put penlight batteries?

NO. You run a hose from your butt to the engine. I hear the prius is capable of running on farts.

Now staying on topic....

can radar guns track the speed at which smug travels?

And how fast can you go from 178 to 0? Driving fast in a car which should have low rolling resistance tires... Well, at least the Darwin Awards might find a new candidate.

someone is asking about the radar detector yet ppl are talking about prius , speed and kmpl!!!!

As JC said; Speed doesnt kill. Coming to an instant halt by crashing into something does. And like peri pointed out, by the time your car even comes down to a 100 from 150+ you're face is gonna be smashed into the big tree at the cemetery round-about on baseline. Good news is your family wont have to spend on a removal coach, Jayarathne can scrape your remains right into a bucket and walk it over to the crematorium.

Maybe someone should bring down a hybrid hearse to Sri Lanka. It's a niche market but a great business opportunity considering the fact that we now have a lot of smug, fart sniffing people driving around at 178 kmph on city streets.

I can remember Top Gear doing an episode about this.60-0 for cars to Jeeps available at that time.

Hi pls , any help on the Radar Detector - for the information of all the prius hatreds , Radar detector is not for the Prius, it is for a Kyron -which needs travelling outstation very often

i don't understand why many in this forum hates prius? anything new it is new experience some like to take the challenge and experience the new and fresh SOME laggards will have used / old tech / beaten for them

I like it young and Hot too bad for those who get Old and Dull

For anybody having issue with a Kyron - it is the best Diesel SUV for that price ( even the indian SUVs are expensive than this)it is priced to be in the reach of a common man.

Cheers

I dunno what you think a common man's salary comes too in this country, but I'm pretty sure most of them aren't thinking about buying Kyrons.
