Guys,

Anyone knows the recommended octane grade for aforesaid?

Also does anyone of you know the exact octane content of ICO extra premium? They don’t disclose though

Does it have any injector cleaning chemicals?

For a brand-new JDM car, when should we do the fuel system cleaning (tank additive) , engine tune-up, injector cleaning etc.

All the inputs are greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

1. Check the owners manual

2. Nobody does dude, its a secret which is why they don't disclose it. Just pump and hope for the best. Bit like Pilawoos who also don't give you a list of ingredients of their kottu. You gotta just eat it and hope that crunchy bit wasn't what you think it was.

3. Does the cheese kottu have cheese??

4. I doubt the JDM is a brand new, otherwise it wouldn't be a JDM. Just like how a kottu isn't also a fried rice. Get your car serviced by the agents and they'll know the correct dates for your maintenance. Or just call and ask. Or, if you can be arsed, check owners manual. Someone posted a link recently to online downloads for em.

Wow....hungry now...

1. not sure

2. From what I've been told it's 93 octane

3. No. Even if, it wont be enough.

4. Use fuel injector cleaner about four times and year. Pull the sparks plugs out, check, and clean every year. Replace them only when needed. When you pull them out, make sure you put the same plug back in the cylinder you removed it from.

As for an off-the-car cleaning I would say do it only when necessary. If you are already using injector cleaners, they should help keep them clean for longer intervals.

Premio 260 NZT260 has a 2ZR-FE engine. Engine manufacturer specify to use RON (Research Octane Number)91 or higher. So very simple, in our country we have RON 90, RON 93 (According to IOC XTra Premium)and RON 95.

Your options are IOC Xtra Premium (RON93) or RON 95 from Ceypetco or IOC.

Your engine is not designed for RON90 (Or 90 Petrol).

By the way same goes for 1NZ-FE engines (Belta, Vios, Allion 240, Corolla 121 etc..).

The above data is after referring to the Toyota engine manuals.

Hope this helps.

Beg to Differ..

NZT260 got 1NZ-FE 1500CC engine VVT-i

ZRT260 got 2ZR-FE which is 1800CC Dual VVT-i Engine. both engines are recommended to use "Regular Gasoline" or 90 Octane.

95oct is recomended,

can pump 90oct but a crus noise will be heard with prolonged use,

there r a lot of allions/premios pumping 90oct still haven't seen any problems due to low oct

keep fingers crossed and use cheaper 90 or go for the safer 95

by the way xtrapremium is 92-93 oct

The 1NZ-FE and 2ZR-FE (the engines used in Belta, Vios, 121, Allion, Premio 240, 260)....The engine manual clearly state to use RON (Research Octane Number) 91 or above.

In Sri Lanka we have RON 90 from Ceypetco and IOC.

RON 95 from both again.

IOC Claim XtraPremuim is RON 93.

So, the clear option available is RON 95 from Ceypetco and IOC. And if IOC confirms RON 93 is in XtraPremium.

These information is based on Toyota Engine Manuals. Where they state anything below RON 91 for these engine will cause engine knocking and does not advice at all.

Hope this helps. Frankly I did research the issue for a long time, referring engine manuals, and taking advice from multiple sources.

I do also beg to differ,

1NZ-FE and 2ZR-FE engine manuals state to use RON 91 or above. The RON is the value we see in our pumps at gas stations. Please check the Ceypetco and IOC web sites (Ceypetco) one has errors though.they have mistakenly mentioned few things in their detail fuel specifications.

As i mentioned in the vios maintaince thread, I have used oct 90 and drove nearly 50000k, no problems yet.

VIOS 2004 or any later.......is designed for Octane 91 or above. AFIK in SL we have Octane 90 and 95. IOC Never uses the word Octane when they mention the EURO 93.

Higher Octane number is required to prevent or lower knocking in high compressed ratio engines. Else the knocking will occur. And in SL many drivers say :ignition ghanawa, engima hondata thiyenawa". Actually pre ignition knock is not good.

Please refer to the car manual. It clearly says this. Also search the web, the 1NZ-FE engine repair manual clearly state about what I am telling.

Bit of tiered telling the same thing again and again. Because some guys just do not care and pump 90. If one has a finance issue, then he has no option. But rich big shots also pump Octane 90 and laugh at 95 users.

i dont think u need to use 95 on a 2004 vios my friend.. save ur money... it was meant to be a everyday econobox.. so i doubt the Japanese would want someone to pump 95 to that..

Which type of petrol recommended for Premio 260 car.

In Japan: Regular grade gasoline.

This translates anything from 88 to 95 Octane petrol. So octane wise 92 will work. Only question is quality of the fuel and if any additives are there in the petrol to help with combustion and keep the engine clean.
