Isn't this full time 4WD/AWD activates only when the system finds the rear wheels become slippery? so technically the front two wheels aren't powered all the time, at least from what I know about this NOAH/TownAce AWD system. That's why there is no transfer case like in traditional 4WD systems but another differential kind of a mechanism between the front wheels and rear wheels.

I can understand if your conversion is based on justifications like

hard to find spare parts (CVs, CV boots and other front suspension related)

less second hand market value (perception issue in typical SL market)

but,if it's for a gain of few kilometers per liter, come'on it's Diesel, we're talking about 7-8 rupees per kilometer cost here. How long do you think you should run this to recover your conversion cost? and potential damage and opportunity cost if you ever encounter a slippery incline rutty road?

with a rear wheel drive van with a light weight back, it's a blessing to have powered frot wheels don't you think?

car engines and van engines have some differences.

may i ask what are those differences are?.

main thing is engine mount. car engine design for front wheel drive van engine design for rear wheel drive. so there is some differences..

Tappet covers (room between the tapet cover and the hood/bonnet is less in car, so valve cover is more of flat than the van engine), t-belt covers (van engine has provision for belt driven fan mountings where as there's no mechanical fan on a car engine) and air intake lines are different.

Car engine will have an additional mounting point on the t-belt housing end than the ones fits the cross-member.

is this 13-14kmL on city drive or long distance running? i think this Fuel millage is too enough for 4WD. if this is long distance running what is your KM per L when city running?

Now delkanda have 3C T engine without gear box for 180,000/- last June i did my engine repair. it cost me 140,000/- i was thinking to replace with recon engine. but most ppl told me its very difficult to tel the recon engine condition. so i did repair without replacing and without taking the risk with 3CT. mine giving me 11kmpl when city and 15kmpl when long distance with full time AC on. it is CR41 2WD with 2C normal engine, 17C Ac Compressor and 14" Goodyear tyres with AWD Nitrogen pumped.

This is normal running here and there, I don't use it outstation that much.. As for the costs I have no comments as I did it in 2010,

Well its unfair to call the 3c-T as a "risk" , It'll be the best thing you ever did to your van.. As for the fuel figures i'm not concerned as you are on an extra KM PER LITRE or what the AC compressor is and I AM NOT running on Nitrogen.. Maybe the your underpowered 2c is running on higher revs, thus needs more fuel.. Whatever..

Yes Harshan, that feature was there in my auto box, it used to kick in on slippery roads and the steering becomes stiffer and you can feel it, as theres no damper in these models, but as for my manual box its proper AWD, I checked it on a ramp, no electronics nothing

tiv This engine you swapped is a 3c van engine?

Any idea how much a 3c car engine is?

Yes this is the variant that came for the Noah models, RWD

I think the car model is cheaper.. Not sure though..
