Guys,

Is there any place that converts/replaces teak interior bits in to standard dashboard (colour) look and feel? or maybe work on the teak interior part colours. I know it is purely based on personal preference. Just curious to know whether it is been done.

Cheers!

If you want to swap your teak interior to standard there will be enough takers. People here prefer plastic looking fake wood finish.

What kind of vehicle is this? what is mentioned below may not apply to some vehicles,

I think this would be a simple diy project,

Take all the bits off

Simply sand off the existing fake wood layer or atleast the lamina over it,

Use a Spray paint can to recolour it to your choice or whatever the oem colour is,

If you want to do things better apply plastic polymer or a primer prior to recoloring it,

But I think simply painting would hold, depends on the vehicle and bits involved...

tiv ... painting interior panels wont give the original plastic look as i suppose. I have seen vinyl stickers (any color u can choose including carbon fiber finish) that can be pasted even over the existing teak panels if u want to change the color. So at a latter stage if u want the teak finish back its just the matter of removing these stickers. :)

Thanks for the feeback guys.

JayZ...I think pasting vinyl stickers would be handy. Any idea of a place that does a neat job? I don't think it is a DIY as similar to spray painting since precise sticker cutting is involved.

This is to make the teak panels of a 2006 Allion in to black to match the rest of the interior colour.

cheers!

Well im not sure of any place where u would be able to get this done ... but if u speak to any tint shop in Darly road or Sun Lanka they might consider doi g it for u. And i have seen at Advance audio they are doing vehicle headlight tinting also.

vinyl's easiest source would be eBay as u'd be able to get the exact color u want. As u mentioned ur allion has black interior i guess matt black finish or carbon fiber look vinyl would give the best appeal. :D :D

That 3M DI-NOC Carbon Fibre sheeting can look really great. Quite cheap and come in 6 or 7 colours. Saw it used on a Honda motorcycle last week and the guy had covered some really intricate shapes and it had done a great job

IMO, the interior of the Allion is quite nice despite the faux wood, when compared to say the Smart Cab or the Vios wood interiors. I would say stick with the stock panelling.

I saw an advertisement Sunday paper mentioned that they are converting normal interior panels to teak. The place is at Kadawatha. I have no experience with them, if any one know I could give the contact number

2006 is still considered a new car! You may ruin the interior by a poor DIY job, or some small shop may mess it up for you. If it looks that bad for you, wouldnt it be easier for you to sell this car and by another one??

I'm guessing you got a g package. the faux wood pieces are clip on. so you can remove them individually. so I suggest you either find someone with a basegrade allion who's desperate for some wood grain on his dash and door panels and swap the pieces.

basegrade allions came with this shiny piano black pieces which I found quite classy for some time compared to the overdone wood trim in other expensive models.

if you can't find someone who needs them then I suggest you go to a parts shop that brings down allion dashboards and doors and ask them if they wouldn't mind exchanging the pieces. fake wood > plastic. so it should work.
