Well the title says it all mostly. After washing the car at home i usually use a towel to wipe it down.. Recently ive been thinking this might damage the paint cause the towel surface is kinda rough. After some googling i found its best to use a 'chamois leather'. Any idea where i can find this or is it ok to just keep using the towel? :)

:D A camisole is something completely different haha. Thanks man but its not worth buying it from ebay for such a small thing. Anyone know any local shops?

You can buy them at most supermarkets including the car care section at arpico. They come in a yellow plastic container.

I have seen them in Lau**g** shops, one was near Orugodawatta. Also has seen in auto places in Da*** in, Supermarkets etc.. There are very cheap ones to stuff like 3*. This leather is ok, there are also othet fabric stuff which are good quality. Everything works and clean and good quality stuff are good.

I use microfiber towels to dry and polish, they dont scratch and dont leave behind lint

most of them are super absorbent and last quite a while too.

Only hitch is it's not that commonly available in SL.

If you have a friend coming down from abroad or do a trip abroad... best to buy in bulk :) quite light stuff so no problem in lugging it here.

I always tend to by chamois and MF cloth when i travel... also fancy car washes :)

all those things are pricey in SL but are quite cheap abroad!

You can find em at keells. The pack with one large and one small towel was 325 IIRC. They hold up pretty well for the price. Not the best but it works.

I use that, got it from Japan. :) and to clean the dust/mud off i use my hand while pouring water on the body, when you use a cloth the dirt could get on the cloth and might scratch the body.

Laugfs has a stock of (new) micro fibers being marketed by a SL brand. They are not quite the same as the 3M micro fiber cloth but given that the comparable size is 250/- while 3M is about 800/- they fare quite well. I'm quite satisfied with it, results on par with 3M for 30% of the price.

I also use this Towel SL brand towel call GM. Bought it from Laugfs for Rs 200 same as 3M towel and a fairly good towel.

Just out of curiosity, what if the vehicle is allowed to dry without wiping (without driving away of course). Are there any effects on the paint work or the metal.

There will be stains eh ?

Na mate I read some where that if the vehicle is not wiped and if it is done often it can damage the paint work and all (Didn't explain properly - it said about minerals settling on the paint work and staining) This didn't make much sense to me because, I was thinking hang on what happens when you go in the rain and all. You would never wipe your car rite. Also if the car is waxed then water should run off without any retention rite. So if there is the risk of swirls being put on the paint work if not wiped properly, is it not better off to let the vehicle dry over time, was my question.

Acid rain has an effect on the paint

there is a product by eagle one, where the water just seeps off the body after washing. No wiping required... - cannot confirm though as ive not tried it...

Best one to wipe is the chamois cloth by abro or a old t-shirt..... the 3M cloth is not that effective...
