Komisiripala
My vote for montero. No experience with diesels but the petrol paj is the shizz! Way more comfy and better looking and Everything than any suv that came out of toyota since 1983! Prado just screams out nouveau riche manik mudalali douchebag

The Montys all tend to develop rattles after a couple of years on our roads and while they are comfy, a prado is really quite some margin ahead when it comes to ride quality and isolation from road noise. Although the prado is actually less advanced than the monty (Ladder frame vs unibody, cruder suspension) it holds up much better in the long run. As for the nouveau riche manik mudalali douchebag thing, That applies to the montero as well dontcha' think?
rangerover
We have a 2010 JDM TRJ120 at home. Its a very comfortable vehicle IMHO. Cant really comment on montero's as I have not been in one. My only complains about the Prado includes the sluggish acceleration (its a 2.7 4cyl petrol engine) and the very light steering feel. But speed or handling was not what this vehicle was built for in the first place. The Montero's with its GDI engines and poor fuel economy for its class will definitively be more expensive to live with.

malla
we had a montero and 2 prado. diesel 2000 montero and 2006 and 2011 prado. the montero had quite alot problems... and had alot of undercarriage rust issues... both prado's have no issues at all... the 2006 has done 170,000Km and 2011 has done 20000km BUT we all feel that 2006 is more comfy than the 2011 and the 2006 has fabric seats... Whats this big deal of Comfy ?? surely you are not the queen of England ? Unless you have serious back problems I honestly don't think there is a significant difference between the two. One of my previous employers ( NGO) had may 4x4 vehicles and I used to travel a lot, and the most comfortable was the TZ Prado. But the best vehicle to drive was the 3.5lt V6 Montero/Pajero, massive amount of power... unfortunately it was a GDI and had engine issues since we pumped the cheap 90oct fuel. Fixzit
In my personal opinion... what I found out is that you cannot expect a good 4x4 to be comfortable as well cz what i found is that more comfier it is, less it performs off road. Softer suspension gets damaged pretty easily and does not handle so good on rough terrains. If I had to decide between Prado and Montero/Pejero, I would just go to a dealer and test drive it myself. I will buy which ever i feel good to drive cz at the end of the day, I'll be paying for it and I'll be using it. So if I buy a 4WD because someone else says it's good, and I'm not happy about it's performance, what good that would do to me? I'm not saying i disagree with any of the guys who took their time to point out which one is their favorite and why.. but i guess it's a simple decision.. DO A TEST DRIVE AND DECIDE. PS. If you are really after comfort, Don't buy a 4WD unless it's a LEXUS LX570, Land Cruiser might looks similar but performs totally different. LX570 is the most comfortable 4WD I've ever driven, Even a Range Rover Vogue 2011 Autobiography can't beat it.

Well... not really, but I guess if you sit in the back it can be a little. Anyway Fixzit is right you don't need to give too much emphasis on the comfort factor on a 4X4.
