You will not find a mechanic within 300km of Jaffna to look after a rotary.

If I was you, I'd first come to the country, get an understanding of the ground situation and then decide. Chances are you'll find it hard to maintain a Corolla over there, much less anything sporty.

Of course, it depends on how much money you have to throw at the problem.

well it realy doesnt matter how much my dad is paying for it and I am thinking maybe couples of K'S but I realy wont know what I am doing without a mechanic that has the ability to apply the bodykit

Not the point, Peri was trying to say that in Jaffna its hard to find a proper mechanic even for such a common vehicle like a corolla so finding a grease junky who can fix rotary engines in Jaffna is next to impossible.

In short:

1- There is no-RX 7 for sale in jafna

2- There is no tuning garage in jafna

3- There is no body-kit shop in jafna.

4- Whoever mechanic in jafna doesnt know how to fix any vehicle that's got any new technology beyond 1990.

I was just asking quetions becuase i havent ever came to SL so i wanted to ask quetions about SL I know the roads arnt as good as aus so you dont have to mention the road did I ask a quetion relating to the roads so why insult the face of SL you should be proud of our country

Buying one of those here is ok, driving such old cars to jaffna, there is no guarantee that the suspension will survive the stratch after kilinochchi to jaffna.

The local garage guys with that Austin and Rootes and Vauxie experience would have no trouble keeping it in good nick for ya. And the motor will remind ya of Ozzie and then you won't get all home-sick, like.

Could definately see ya cruising past the KKS cement factory and impresing all the local chicks as ya waft by.... "there goes that lovely young chap from Australia", they'ed coo when they saw ya. Yes. It can. In fact any car can, have seen plenty of Pugs, BMWs and other cars make it to Jaffna and back. 5 years it may not have made it past Omanthai... but today it can...

I am planning on a drive of epic proportions in my Alfa to Jaffna and back through the middle of the country to Dondra head .. one of these days....

I will let you know how it goes. By the time you get your JDM Assassinating ass over here, you will know for sure...

Kuhan mate, been over a random pot hole in a parking lot? Now imagine those things popping out randomly from here and there along a 500km Journey. And then imagine doing that in a kitted 15-20 year old car. After that imagine doing that on a regular basis in a kitted 15-20 year old car in a place where it`s difficult to find expert mechanics and spare parts to fix the darn thing if/when it breaks. See not too difficult to imagine after all eh?

I would look for a EG8 in decent nick first, buy if i find one, get all mechanical issues sorted, drive around a fair bit and then think about the body kit..!

I take you this is your first time coming to Sri Lanka (let alone jafna)... i'm guessing you have some family living there that you'll be visiting.. ask them what cars they see on the roads. You'll wont get anything beyond a compact or conventional family sedan in those areas. Plus roads in those areas are a challenge for normal cars as it is.. so a low-slung car like a rx7 (even if u manage to buy one elsewhere in the country) wont be feasible on any of those roads with the exception of maybe a popular main road.

I have relatives in velvettithurai. Never heard it being called valvai. Just curious.

Your wish list is a little far spaced. An rx7 is more or less an exotic here. The problems you'll

1. Finding an unmolested one with a rotary motor is near impossible. And those who have them are

Not willing to part with them for easy money. Will cost upwards of 2 million rupees.

2. The ones with inline engines have been hacked to death. You will spend more time at the mech than on the road.

3. The road conditions in Jaffna are deplorable mate. Ride height of an rx is too low. You'll never be able to let her rip
