really? because it seemed like it had the makings of a snide remark.

I'm disappointed. Only the makings? It was a snide observation.

Well 67Dodge, it seems like you have answered your own question, and your introduction of the 3M cleaner sounds like a well rehearsed sales pitch.

Now all of this maybe completely innocent coincidences, but we've had plenty of guerrilla marketing attempts before.

glad thats firmly established.

any reason as to why you went the snide route? or is it simply your nature?

I wouldnt begrudge a reply to a Mature Response, you've considered the possibility exists of a coincidence despite instances to the contrary, instead of the "Shoot 1st ect..." attitude shown by the prev mod.

yes , i did answer my own question. Why? because i chose to give him a chance to prove he wasnt a complete tool in this instance.his own admission leaves little left to counter this unfortunately.

Good stuff if the goal is the lowering of collective opinion of AL forums & All its mods.

& as to your own querry,

sylvi suggested the 3M in his post not me. If i was a 3M agent on a guerilla marketing campaign, would i leave this to chance that someone would hopefully throw 3M out there to build on it? or is it an assumption that me & Sylvi are in cahoots? also, a well reahearsed sales pitch would suggest more than simply 2 posts dont you think?

Neither of these really matter to me, but FYI, i assume your on the classic car search SL FB page? a quick "3M" search coupled with the timelines involved with Pericles Nobel award wining "Observation" aught to give you enough to reach a definitive answer.

ill throw this in just for kicks.

You know the really sad part? what i hoped would be an informative thread for a DIY'er has become......... this.

Refer sig. Don't give a rats ass on your opinion. You can think I'm a whole tool box, but what anonymous internet commenters think of me really don't bother me. You come out with snark, you'll get it back. If you're quite done, you may now bugger off.

My my pericles, i do believe it was you who came out swinging with the "Snark" .... not me.

dont tell me you can only dish it out and not man up & take some? or better yet, be gracious enough to accept that you were wrong?

Wow,... a thread about a simple Question, yet most of the responses are personal attacks. seems to be a trend here.

Coz this right here is the very definition of non-snark.

Pull the other leg son, its got bells on it.

I hope I wouldn't get caught in the crossfire.

Coming to the topic of safety of cleaners on the throttle body coatings, is it the coating on the back of the throttle plate that is referred to? I do not see much significance of this particular coating in a tropical climate like in SL because its main purpose, as I understand is to prevent ice forming on the back of the plate because of the pressure difference on either side (like the orifice tube of a AC unit). Please correct me if I am wrong.

I refer to the Rumesh88 member's post.

Sylvi, they do say people in glass houses should not throw stones :) We all need to behave ourselves in the forum.

Please try to keep your posts relevant and concise and things should be ok. To be perfectly honest, sarcasm is an acceptable method of communication, but genuinely abusive posts have always been dealt with. This applies to everybody not just yourself of course!

I do not want to argue on your post.

I like to know what you mean by. (They do say people in glass houses should not throw stones) How does that apply to my post?

What you have underlined it is my opinion (Sarcasm is an acceptable method of communication.) Your post informs.

To my knowledge. Opinions vary from person to person.. Opinions also an a acceptable method of communication. On forums.

Dear members

Don't you think we should show SOME respect to our fellow "pro member" Sylvi who is 70 (69+) years old by not being abusive to him as he could also well be the oldest member in the forum????

Also, wouldn't you think that having a joke at the expense of a 70 year old about cancer is not in very good taste?????

Really nice to see guys like you CJ5. Some people here have no brains and they think mocking other people makes them so cool. Mind you many of the products that exist today were created by mistake, trial and error and RD. I salute Sylvi for his efforts. Who knows one day he might invent something cool.

quote]

wow, i wonder how many else gets the feeling your grasping at straws.....

you've proceeded from challenging my event timeline--> challenging my post--> Accepting your Arrogance-->Defending your own Arrogance.

"Definition of Non-Snark"??? boy your really scraping the bottom of the barrel of the Urban dictionary arnt you?

"Pull the other leg son, its got bells on it." is this your best attempt at redirecting attention while trying to intimidate me with your self-validating English proficiency?

All this effort, yet not a single post to contribute to the thread.

you know what?

looking at your sig', attached links, Questionable attitude(im still bieng nice-see the difference??) & insolent demeanor,...

Careful "Pericles",... you run the risk of being labeled as a classic Attention Junkie...

I don't know what kinda shit this guy is on, but it seems strong. And this pathetic attempt to keep this thread on top also smells of GM. I've had enough of engaging with idiots.

Well, assuming I am right in my post #34 above, the much touted claim of *M "safe on coated throttle bodies" is trivial. Is n't it? Acetone is just as good.

Congratulations, you have fully crossed over to behaving like an Insolent Child

I've had enough of engaging with idiots.

strange, to anyone following this thread, this statement definitely sounds more logical when applied to you.

by now it looks like you've lost your "Im a Respected AL MOD.. i can use my Get-Out-Of-Jail-Free" card. that must sting.

Do yourself a favour....

1-Dont post up on my threads unless you got something constructive to add.

2-Dont demean the rest of the AL MODS with your behaviour.

i would like to answer that, but i myself am still reading up on coated TB's. other forums state they use "Rubbing Alcohol" (which is esssentially similar to local surgical spirit). read up a bit on the differences a bit more before you try it though.

I'd just like to point out to you, Mr 67dodge, that you are skating on very thin ice here. Arguing with mods is generally a big no no. We've let you have your say because we do believe in free speech here on AL but try to remember that there is a limit. It was you who decided to take a swipe at AL with your second post, so you really can't whine if people use snark to counter it.

So do yourself a favour...

1. if you're accused of something you didn't do, just state the truth and be done with it. We've seen waay too many snide attempts at Guerilla Marketing over the years on AL to not have our suspicions raised by a thread like this. You may not consider it fair, but that's the forum rules.

2. If a Mod tells you something, take it in good grace and back down. Back talk and insolence is not really going to get you anywhere... Again, you may not consider it fair, but that's life.

Thanks, Have a nice evening.
