Technically you could drive this car for Nikan (0 cost) if you fix a solar unit to charge the battery.

Add about another Rs. 600-900k for the solar unit for around 4.5-5.0 million this might be a better option for a Prius.

Having said that I personally feel that the technology is still not time tested in our climate (temperature, humidity, dust) all that could have serious impact on the battery performance and life.

My appreciation goes for the people who would be testing this car in SL roads like the pioneers of hybrids thanks to whom the confidence of hybrids have been build up here.

And if anyone wants to take the plunge for heaven’s sake think about all the others in their internal combustion engines and “GIVE WAY WITHOUT CLOGGING THE ROADS”

Well, technically speaking it may not be 0 cost I think. The battery pack has to be replaced with in certain no of kms and the solar itself has a lifetime. All together it will still be costing some amount for a km. Nissan guarantees its battery life for 160,000kms or 10 years use. Therefore the cost of a battery pack + replacement cost + cost for charging need to be calculated to see the actual figures that it costs for a km. If someone is aware about those figures kindly post a reply.

Yes certainly better than Shitty vision. But the so called agent should have sent a competent guy to explain things better.

2. When you drive slow, the rear wheels generate electricity so that non of the electricity is wasted (Guess its a perpetual motion machine...)

Can some one give me a BIG face palm please...

Look like they gonna create new physics laws......

I think Sri Lanka Nissan agent does not do their job.. They just running after maruti and alto

Hi, just a quick note from Nissan. Nissan Japan or their agent in Sri Lanka does not recommend this model for the Sri Lankan market yet. None of the vehicles imported and sold are official nissan imports. Please Please be careful if you are considering buying a grey import Leaf. The Leaf is a great car and will be launched officially in SL when the product is deemed suitable for our market.

dont be so harsh to judge them, my friend. they were the main sponsors of the drags this year, and one of their works managers ran a beast of a 350ZX twin turbo at the races. it had a frightening idle lope and the rear tyres from a top fuel dragster! (or so it looked like). that turbo conversion was done by A*W mechanics.

they are in negotiations for sponsoring another sports-car meetup to be held early next year, and they are very accomodative in bringing down spares and servicing the fairladies and datsuns for a reasonable price. personal experience.

its just that they need the altos and marutis to make a fast buck.

and as someone above pointed out (in his first post. welcome to AL. how much is A*W paying you?? :P) they have issued a fair warning about wiping your backside with nissan leaves.

well... he simply admitted he's from the nissan agent. not like some guerilla marketing buggers u see so frequently on this forum.

anyway buying an ev is not like buying a hybrid. unless the infra is set up (charging stations, workshops and whatnot) it will be an extremely bad idea. and i wonder how an average car sale has the capability to setup a country-wide infrastructure.

Wonder no further. Just take a peek at the Sunday paper. In te same ad boasting a "planned countrywide charging system" they have, in the very same sentence, made a plea for charge station operatives!!

As he clearly stated, it will happen when the product is tested and deemed suitable by Nissan themselves, exactly the same as happened for the Honda Insight and Toyota Prius. Car agents generally do have to worry about their reputations more than a random importer would.

Judging by the mass recall in Florida, not anytime soon. But out local jokiyas will buy this nevertheless. Despite the unit cost of electricity, this is a thel hinganna's wet dream!!

Yes. But the big question is will Nissan allocate their resources to test the car for SL.Since we are a very small market. Unless A*W decides to bring few of them and test.

At this moment even I won't buy a Leaf as it has been around for only 3 years since it's launch. The battery issue due to the heat is a proof that the leaf is still undergoing teething problems. Using the national grid for charging the leaf is not economical under the current electricity tariff. Having a solar panel at home is the only viable solution.

If the local importer expresses interest and provides a viable market forecast then they will certainly allocate the resources.

A*W is looking at electric vehicles very seriously, however we do feel that the technology behind these vehicles will improve significantly over the next year. The LEAF that will be introduced officially is likely to be the next geraration version designed to withstand our hot and humid conditions.

In other news, we are launching the new 370z soon. Low volume but certainly a showcase for the true sprit of NISSAN.

Thanks for the support , understanding and patience gentlemen.

We are always here to support you in any way we can.
