Emission Test Wilth A Beat Can On

So i went to the Laughs place where they do emisison tests with my beat can on. They said they cant do it with the beat barrel & also said something about a govt regulation. Car is a Trueno & i said it is a sports car & the car originally came with the beat barrel, they still said NO.

My revenue licence is expired. need to get smoke tested. Any ideas on this?

AFAIK, the Trueno did not come with a 'beat' barrel.

I am afraid that you will have to remove the 'beat' barrel, go for a stock barrel and do the test.

yeah i fixed it stock was cut short & the barrel is welded to it... hmmm.. removing it is gonna be a some work.

Well... now you will have to sort out a locally made muffler, noh? What made you cut the original? Normally you 'replace'... not cut in half.

As Watchman asked, did you experience blinding performance afterwards?

BTW, is it black Trueno? with gold rims? Was it parked outside Pilawwos today around 4.30pm?

Agree with VVTi...except for the extreme cases where it's the inefficient government bureaucracy preventing you from doing the right thing one must not dwelve straight in to bribing the authorities for such small matter like a vehicle licence.It may come to bite you in the ass big time later on.

As for OP's '"beat can"...try going to a different testing center,Sometimes these things depend on the location or even the mood of the examiner at a given time.I know a lot of people with huge barrels who get their cars passed even without a mention of the exhaust tips.

MD, the Bamba and Mirihana Green test centers do not as a policy do tests on heavily modded cars. Especially the ones seemingly done locally. Last time I was there to get the Foz tested, a converted STi came with a large barrel but the guy allowed it after checking the underside and getting another person to come and check some stuff. God knows how, but I guess after doing the tests day in day out they know what the score is when it comes to proper mods and Nimal ayya's Silencer Works jobs.

Yeah even the last years test has been done with the can on. so i can get it doen from another place for sure. at least with some extra cash..

It is a simple thing. You live in Colombo go to Maradana License duty pay office, there are plenty of people around the office get hold of one person.

Give him the papers with extra 1000/= and your correct license fee your job will be done in few minutes. Live and let live.

Many government officers have this policy. I have a vehicle in out of Colombo; few days back I did that.
