Car Was Wrecked Asian Alliance Is Undervaluving The Car.

Not sure what the procedure in SL is but in some countries accident vehicles are written off by insurance companies not necessarily due to their lack of roadworthiness. It mainly depend on the country/state/province safety laws and the insurer’s pay out strategy. In some scenarios a car may be written off or declared as a total loss if the total cost of the damage is as low as 50% of the value of the car. Depending on the magnitude of the damage the vehicles title is declared/re-classified as a rebuilt or junk/scrap car. A rebuilt titled car can be repaired and after passing a safety inspection be put back in the circulation.

I think a system like that will greatly benefit the local car industry. But then again in this banana republic integrity of such an evaluation and classification program will be questionable.

On a side note, does anyone know how badly damaged the red NSX or Aravinda’s old Ferrari was? Imagine the safety of the resurrected specimens specially when taking in to account their ability to hit top speeds and the potential buyers/owners mentality (due to their financial and/or political fire power)????

I would blame Asian Alliance for this, not the seller.

They are legally and morally obliged to sell an unrepairable car after deregistering with RMV and cutting off the chassis.

But they have taken the dirty path of making a quick buck.

Bloody murderers!

On a side note, if anyone is having an insurance policy with Asian Alliance, it's a good idea to rethink about it. Even if Asian Alliance people don't have a conscience, you do!

Just FYI, there are many other insurance companies that are more ethical than this.

Would you mind naming some of those companies.

The problem is not with the insurance company. The problem is with the law. We have no clear definition of an unrepairable car or unroadworthy car and no process of ensuring after a repair the car is roadworthy. So this is what happens.

The fact is most cars after an accident can be repaired safely, just that its uneconomical to do so. I don't know if you guys watch a program called Gas Monkey on the Discovery channel, but they repaired an F40 with chassis damage, to Ferrari factory spec, and put the car back on the road. It was a complete wreck with a lot of the front end busted, and bent chassis. The guys who did the work were Ferrari certified mechanics, and Ferrari itself gave a certificate of conformity at the end of the repair. The repairs cost in the region of 300K dollars. I mean it was worthwhile with a F40 but ...... you get the jist
