Nipun Tan
Lancer cb 8 is a durable car.Don't know about the petrol version, but the diesels seems to be smooth with the two balance shafts.Remeber one of our relatives bought a diesel cb 8 from a permit in 1994 and the car was nealy 10 lacks. These are fairly hardy cars and the only weak points are roof rust, plastics which seem to corode due to UV exposure, or being constantly banged about. Check the engine mounts, shock absorbers, timing belt, drive belts and for any signs of rust. Get the radiator/ cooling system cleaned, the diesel pump serviced, the timing belt changed and the car serviced, and you should be ready to roll! Reckless
Congrats mate! Like Don said there are pretty durable cars, one of my freind at office owns one. Some interior parts like ac vents, door winders and knobs has fallen a apart, but these are due ti his poor use and poor maintenence of the vehicle. But that thing keeps running without any major issues. The engine and the suspention is in pretty good shape. Enjoy your car and unlike my freind keep the car in good shape you wont be disapointed.

Its got nothing to do with maintenance. The plastic bits of this car if the car is kept in direct sunlight fall apart. The same is the case with my Mirage. In my case I have replaced most at considerable expense as they are not easy to find. I'm not thinking of some brand new replacements as even the used replacements are showing signs of age. CK2
thanks guys.... any idea about the cost of the works mentioned before...?
CK2
hi, did some mechanical repairs last few weeks. thought to share the experience since AL has less info about CB8s. these are the works done Replacing 3 engine mounts (Japan brand) Timing belt with all pullies Head Gasket replaced Oil seals replaced seat the values, cleaned the radiator and checked the clutch & pressure plates. total cost is around 40000/= (including garage fee) i found those spare parts very easily, almost every spare parts shops have these parts. After those works i have run more than 1500kms and avg fuel consumption was 12.5kmpl. but sometimes i can see black smoke when doing sudden accelerations. So now i'm thinking to cleaning the injector pump and replace faulty injector nozzles if any, its really helpful if anyone can recommend a place for diesel injector related works.(around maharagama,Malabe) thanks.
