Dear experts,

what do you think about this kind of fuel performance chip.

is it harmful to engine or sensors

http://www.ebay.com/itm/PERFORMANCE-CHIP-GAS-FUEL-SAVER-ALL-PONTIAC-AND-SATURN-MODELS-1986-2015-/161394503809?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2593dcb081&vxp=mtr

HOW IT WORKS!!

The Performance Resistor Module is the answer to todays high fuel prices and

all of us looking to squeeze that hidden power and fuel economy out of your engine.

Typical gains with our products is a horsepower gain of up to +80 HP, while gaining up

to +25 MPG in fuel mileage due to increased engine efficiency! The way that our products work is by sending a continuous signal through a factory engine data sensor that your Factory Engine Control Module (ECM) monitors. This modified and continuous signal triggers your factory ECM to reprogram itself for a more optimum fuel mixture and timing curve, allowing the full benefits of an expensive power programmer but while retaining the complete safety of your Factory ECM.

The advantage of the Performance Resistor Modules is that they do not directly interface with your Factory ECM. If you compare our products against an expensive $400+ name brand power programmer, they work by interfacing with your Factory ECM via the OBDII port underneath the dash. The expensive power programmers completely rewrite your Factory ECM in order to override your stock tune. The two downsides to this is that your Factory ECM risks corruption if there are any power interruptions or errors within the expensive power programmer, which could require a tow to get your Factory ECM reflashed by your dealership. The second downside is that since those type of products directly interface with your Factory ECM, it will leave a footprint behind in the memory. Many dealerships check the memory for any codes or footprints during routine maintenance, and could void your warranty for using those types of power programmers!

On the flip side, since the Performance Resistor Modules does not directly interface with your Factory ECM and merely only sends a continuous signal through a factory engine data sensor, it will absolutely not leave any footprints behind in the memory since our products are simply triggering your Factory ECM to reprogram itself on its very own, being completely undetectable by your dealership. Our products are completely reversible and your Factory ECM will instantly revert back to the stock settings once removed!

Installation is very simple and we guarantee that anyone with no previous mechanical background will be able to easily install our product within 5-10 minutes. The kit includes a very detailed step by step Installation Guide that will make installation a breeze. There is absolutely no drilling, cutting required to install our products! With our Award Winning 5 Star Technical Staff, you can be rest assured that well be here for you until the end if you need any help or have any questions regarding installing our products!

I'm no expert. But if something sounds too good to be true, that should raise some alarms. +80HP gain and a +25mpg fuel mileage gain are two phrases you can't say in a single sentence in the real world. Use common sense. If it fails, watch the video below.

What a load of bollocks! Don't waste your money man. There was a fifth gear episode in which they tried all these out, but it didn't work.

Wow i feel so sad for the Germans and Japs who spend who spend millions of $ on R&D to get better fuel efficiency and performance when all they needed to do was to put in a 12$ electronic circuit. :speechless-smiley-004:

If you are confused, here is the short answer; Bull$hit !

There are so called fuel savers and then there are performance chips. But if it was my money i'd go with a performance chip cos that could actually improve economy, not that those fuel savers stand a chance anyway. and like mightycarmods proved there are bogus chips but the genuine ones are easy to identify cos they usually carry reputed names, cost over $500 and they dont need barenaked ladies in the ads to sell them.

Either way the these genuine chips will improve economy only if it gives you more torque at the same rpm or lower. So they might not work in all applications.

In terms of theoretical physics the best fuel saver would be running a heavier flywheel

But in my opinion all this is as sissy as taking fat burners to get in shape without doing some goddamned exercise. If you want better economy just maintain the car the way the manufacturer intended and make a few changes to your driving style. With anticipative yet considerate driving you can easily surpass the manufacturers claims of fuel economy even in sri lanka.

Whenever I am drunk I feel my car is performing better. Therefore I recommend adding performance enhancing whatever to you rather than the car. With personal experience I recommend 100 ml of Bracardi mixed with 150ml of Coke before driving the car. It will improve acceleration, comfort and fuel economy. Performance enhancing chips are expensive. Bracadi is cheaper.

you do get performance chip modifications but for $12 do you really think it will do what it says. i seen race tuned chips but nothing which would give you better millage also the newer diesel 4wd have performance chips to give additional torque but still will not give you better millage per gallon even though some actually claim to. what vehicle are you looking to fit it for. maybe you can do a search on few international forums and see what kind of chips were installed in your model and then ask an actual user of his experience.

I know you're probably joking but I bet you a beer, someone here may be stupid enough to take you seriously; or at the very least, assume that we condone drinking and driving. So maybe its best we refrain from joking about it, regardless of how funny the punchlines are.

+1. One of my friend's had a Steinbauer Power Module which increases the torque output, on his Hilux, and it really works, as @Yala has mentioned. It is quite expensive though.

Guys in reality you can achieve either better gas mileage or better power or sometimes even both by changing the ECU map. This is either done by either attaching a piggy back unit to the ECU, a performance module or chip, which is hard soldered on to the ECU, or at times like with certain European cars by an actual ECU remap.

This of course can only be done by an expert and the costs a considerable. You can't do it for $12. In the UK this service costs around £200.
