Toyota Vitz - Burning Smell When Accelerating

Hi All,

Reasonably I bought a Toyota Vitz 2007 model. There a Burning smell coming when sudden accelerations. This is happening at random intervals.

Do you have oily cloth in engine bay? Sometime baas forgets and keeps and when engine hots burning smell comes.

Trust you drive with your windows closed. If so, you should not get any smell from outside unless the door rubber seals are damaged or the external air vent of your AC system is not closing properly. Let's first sort out if the smell comes from outside or inside.

Did you experience that when car is idle as well?

If so try to locate the are of the car where smell comes in (No scanners for this, only scanner is your nose )

I also think it comes through AC vent. leme check on that.. but this happened 2 times randomly when i was trying to overtake.

If so get it attended on priority. Otherwise you will have to change your cabin filter every few hundred kms. Also do you get belt slipping noise at times?

Maybe the fresh air vent is stuck open and is leaking air from outside into the cabin?

Yes I m going to replace the belt this weekend

This only happens when sudden accelerations.

Then most probably it could be due to loosen belt. Replace the belt before get in to A/C.
