HRS
Dear all, ABS error indicating when my LANCER CS1 is driving at about 100 Km/h. There is no error in low speed. Can anybody give me a clue about this situation? Thanks.
iRage
Could be a wheel speed sensor acting up. Did you replace brake pads/disks recently by any chance ? Do you feel any pulsating (either on your foot or hand via steering) when you press the brakes at these high speeds ? I've come across cars where the sensor got whacked around by brake disks getting excessively warped and sending the ABS system haywire. EDIT: Since this is the brake system..don't go by hearsay or just wing-it....take it to a proper garage and see if there are any fault codes and check the system out properly. HRS
well noted my friend. One month back,I replaced the left axle with a reconditioned one since I experienced issues with it. This is the first time I draw the car in a highway (high speed) after the replacement. I couldn't check whether I am getting any pulsating when driving high speed. By the way, as you said, I will take the car to a proper garage as soon as possible. Thanks for your comments.
Davy
Since you say that this happened after one of the drive shafts were replaced, it could be that the groves on the ABS reluctor ring on the new axle is filled with grease or grime, or it could be that the reluctor ring itself is damaged. Both scenarios will result in the ABS wheel speed sensor sending a wrong signal to the ABS computer, resulting in a ABS indicator. You can do a few self-checks before taking the car to the garage: 1. Check the CV joint at the wheel end and observe if there is any grease t hat is splattered as a result of a poorly tightened CV boot clamp. 2. Carefully inspect the ABS reluctor ring for groves that are filled in or teeth that are damaged. The reluctor ring is located right behind the brake disc. 3. Check if the ABS sensor is not covered in grease or grime. According to my memory, the ABS sensor on the CS Lancer can be seen from the reverse side of the disc as well. If you see any grease splatter, first check if a CV boot is leaking grease (when using a recon axle, it's best to replace all CV boot clamps). If it is, you should get that sorted out. If there is grease and grime on the reluctor ring, clean it with a brush and see if that causes the ABS light to go off. If this doesn't solve your issue, take your car to a good garage for a proper diagnosis. EDIT: Just to help you locate the reluctor ring on your car, it should be in the location indicated by the green arrow in the image below. Note that the brakes in the image are drum brakes. yours has discs at the front. Hope this helps. Edited February 29, 2016 by Davy
wolseley
There is a toothed ring attached to the CV joint towards what the ABS sensor is pointed at. If that come loose the ABS sensor might not pick up the signal properly. Check it first. Davy has nicely elaborateded the thing..........cheeers Edited February 29, 2016 by wolseley

HRS
Earlier I forgot to mentioned that the steering wheel of the CAR is vibrating at high speed. Last weekend I consulted a technician and explained the situation. He checked the car and informed me that the ABS sensor is full dust and he has cleaned it. Also, he requested to have wheel balance to solve the issue related to steering wheel vibration. After completing both tasks (cleaning ABS sensor and wheel balancing) I went to Kadawatha via highway to check the issue. Unfortunately, after driving about 3 min, the ABS light appeared and also, experienced the steering wheel vibration. Therefore, I have to hand over the vehicle to the technician again. Please do reply if you have any advice.
