shenjeevalhanth Krishnaraj
Hey lads , I'd like to ask why L200's are cheaper comparing to hilux? any place i can find snorkel? thank you for your time
iRage
Several reasons: 1. The L200, even when new was slightly cheaper than the Hilux or when it was the sameprice as the Hilux it had much better equipment. There is nothing wrong with the L200...it is jsut the way it is..Mitsubishis have always been cheaper than Toyotas and Nissans. 2. The Sri Lankan mentality. Any piece of crud with a Toyota badge on it will fetch ridiculous prices. Where the Hiux is concerned... 3. The Hilux has proven itself to be an near indestructible workhorse over several decades that people are willing to tolerate the high prices at a global scale. Again..not to say that the L200 would breakdown frequently. Either car will keep running as long as it is taken care of properly (and considering the popularity of Toyotas parts accessibility would be easier for that than the Mitsu.) As for snorkels....you shold be able to find universal kits from places like the ironman agents or 4x4 specialists like Bruce. Expand Just a side note. When I was looking for a snorkel for my vehicle the shop asked me "Do you want a high air intake or do you really want to do deep water crossing?" So looks like just fitting a snorkel won't make your vehicle ready for water crossings. It needs some work in to it if you want to use it as a snorkel. I'm not into mechanical stuff, just shared what I got from the shop. As always please feel free to correct me..

Expand Yes...you get different types of snorkels....don't know much...I only know that I had to sign off on purchase orders for my project fleet You get air ram snorkels and vortex snorkels (removes dust particles differently and the intensity in which the air is pumped in to the engine is slightly different..apparently)..then you get sealed and unsealed (traditionally...basically to prevent grime, water, dust getting in vs. not getting in and keep the air flowing in in cases like water crossings. So not necessarily to increase air flow in the interest ofperfromance increase..from what I can understand. But now you get this combined with other methods for performance gains as well). So yeah...not a matter of just sticking on tubes anymore..
