yasas silva
Hello guys, recently on Iam having this idea of doing a complete conversion of my LJ78 prado to a VDJ76 by swapping a 1VD-FTV engine with manual transmission. So for that looking forward for some help and advice from anyone who knows the subject. Also for the record what type of fuel consumption figures and budget will I possibly have to allocate for this conversion as iam also having second thoughts of either swapping a 1HZ instead of the 1VD (much interest is towards the V8 though). Any form of advice and thoughts would be very appreciated. Thanks Edited July 1, 2022 by yasas silva

For a proper convert You will need a "face cut", Dashboard and internals, rear axle etc. Basically the whole car except chassis and body. A running VDJ78 in Japan would be between 5mil JPY- 7.5mil JPY, so you might have to find a single cab, a wreck or something in those lines. GIven those figures and CiF, (If cleared legally - custom duty) and all that, its going to be a swap nearing atleast 8mil to 10 mil LKR. Engine swap alone you will be looking near 4mil. If you want VDJ, I would say wait for imports to open and buy one new in a year or two. I'd go with a 1HZ though, and then do a turbo swap to that. Nothing like a mechanical old school diesel. Expand Uhumm....you do know you gave a wonderful and comprehensive reply to a 2 year old post I beleive the second guy just wants an engine swap Technically he should have the wider front end as he wants to go from a V8 to the I6. OR so I thought...he has a LC200. Edited October 3, 2024 by iRage
