Urgent Help Needed: To Buy Fb15 2004 Model

S. Perera

Recommended Posts

hi,

checked a fb15 2004 model.(dark blue)

remarks

1. some damages to the painting (not that severe)

2. milage it shows in the digital display as ~25k!

price 2million.

owner is reluctant to go to A*W for checking.

is this a good offer? pls advice as i'm thinking of buying this in 2-3 days.

since these models are all digital ,will there be a problem of spare parts?

reg.

owner is reluctant to go to A*W for checking.

that should give you the answer you need. Is he living very far out of Colombo? Or what's the reason for his reluctance? Also you should be able to figure out if the mileage is fake by asking what the car is used for (eg daily driver or just weekend runs or what). 25k seems low for a 3 year old car but it really depends on what its used for. I have a 3 year old nissan and less than 10k km on it, because it is not run in much. i dont think ull have trouble with spare parts for any nissan sunny in sri lanka though.

also 25k mileage! , is there a possibility that this reading may be false?

I would also agree with s.Perera - u can change the meter for Rs.1700/- sooo tell him point blank - if u want the plc. I'll even give u the directions .

the fact that he's reluctant to go to A*W seems fishy too...

Take caution mate - 2Mil is not peanuts these days

All the best

the FB15 is not a car that is difficult to find in Sri Lanka, there are dozens for sale at any one time, so you have a fairly large choice

25k is a very low mileage for an ordinary jap car, its most likely that it has been "clocked" i.e. the meter has been turned back...... turning back meters is a common practice and isnt really cause for much worry....... but since the owner is reluctant to go to the agents something seems wrong......

you are the buyer after all, so insist that the owner bring the car to A*W...... if you dont stand firm and something is wrong with the car, remember that it will end up being YOUR problem.

if he is still reluctant, you should probably leave this particular car alone...... like i said, FB15's are not exactly rare cars in the SL market...

meter is actually digital display. (mileage) changing this is it possible?

owner is a doctor, 1st owner, as per info he's working place is near to home.

registration 2006 december. says owner is going for a permit vehicle.

if we forget the 25k (assuming it will probably be ~50k) , i could notice some white marks near the corner. said it is probably due to polish.

anyway 1st reg. color is green and it's still the same.(dark green-blue)

could negotiate for 19.5(what is the usual price of fb15 2004? think it's higher)

thinking all what are ur final advices?

thanks all.

digital meters can be clocked

also if the mileage is exceptionally low the other explanation is that the car has suffered an accident in Japan before being shipped here

thus its best if you hoist the car up and check the undercarriage for signs of damage before buying any car,

ask why the owner does not like a A*W check, put pressure on him for one, if he refuses walk away, plenty of FB15's in the market
