(may be since i accelarate nw more to get the speed since pulling is low). Car is a Automatig gear one. But when i swith off da A/C car pulls as normall. Guys wt can be da issue ? :(

First do the basics!

Do the proper tune-up

Change AT box oil-If you havent done it at reqd time.

Get all sensors (AF,CA especially) cleaned and checked before re-installing.

None of above are DIY.So go to the nearest qualified place to get it done.

Good Luck!

Have you done anything to the AC recently, is the change only when the AC is on and without the AC the car is normal?

A little more info and doing the basics like checking the Air Filter and the plugs is certainly a good idea.

Also I dont understand the codes FB14 etc. used in SL but try and say how old the car is and it's engine size etc. I will try my best.

Yes maithri i have done the A/C reapir. My previouse AC compressosor was damaged so A/C repairman told me to change it. They put a new one and a A/C filter. And the car is 1500 CC one and manufactured in 1996.

Well if they used a piston type air compressor- then that could be an issue - as I too was instructed to replace mine with one of those but was lucky to get an original. Apparently what I was told by a guy who replaced it with a piston type was the pulling power dropped drastically. Since yours is a Auto ; that's double the effect.

Mithri: u know anything about this piston type compressor ? As the AC dude said it’s easier to repair and has no issues like worn out razors (As was the case in mine) He was insisting that I put 1 of those but A star was looking down  – got an original one off my mechanic for a good price too – :D

I would hate to loose power - no matter how mcuh fule it consumes.

mazdaspeed I was advised to do the same on a Mazda by my own AC guy and the consequences were disastrous, tremendous loss of acceleration !

There is a reason why rotary types compressor is used on low capacity petrol engines, as they rev higher and rotary compressors can produce as much pressure as the piston ones do at higher revs while not needing as much power to run them. And the sad thing is the rotary it had worked fine, but this dude insisted the piston one would work better and cool better. I guess he forgot this was a car and not an air conditioner and the primary function of the engine was to move the car not to cool it !!

When I brought my current car, the previous owner had done the same to it, and I search everywhere and finally managed to find an original replacement, and took it to an AC guy who absolutely refused to replace it saying the current one is very good and I should keep it. He also found all sorts of problems with the compressor I had bought, but after I got a bit angry, and told the dude I will pay him irrespective of if it works or not, he finally swapped it and walla it worked and worked very well, and gone were the loss of power problems.

Lets this be a lesson to all, NEVER EVER EVER replace a ROTARY TYPE ORIGINAL COMPRESSOR WITH A PISTON ONE !!. If your car could handle a piston one, the manufacturer would have fitted one for you !!

The solution seems to have been self evident!

I live in the UK where AC is relatively new in cars as well as in buildings! We strictly replace like for like and the only choice seem to be re conditioned or new. I do not know of anybody who repair or dismantle AC compressors outside specialist re conditioners. Most of our AC repairs are replacing leaking components and re filling the refrigerent Gas. after vaccuming and re lubricating the system. I can understand replacing a faulty compressor with one that will fit in it's place but it must also meet the abilities of the engine to turn it and the system to handle the pressure output. Otherwise the repair will not be effective and will be a waste of time and money possibly leading to further problems.

hi

check your air filter first. then go for a fuel system clean-up and tuning

Hi guys thanks a lot for your suggestions. I have changed the air filter after suggest by the mechanic person after testing. Now every thing is working like previously. Feel lot better now on pulling and fuel consumption. Now the car pulls very smoothly.

If you got a spot, pls post it here.

As miniace said, lotsa fake ones, and if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is! Trying to save a couple of bucks in the short term can have very expensive consequences. Yes, even your unbreakable Toyota's can suffer. So put the place down here and see if anyone else has any experience.

I find it odd that you would recommend KnN and say avoid Motorcade. I do believe they are the agents.

internet purchase is cheap..

even with shipping costs?

normally you get better deals off web the hitch is shipping costs, customs taxes and the originality of the product...

If you have a good web vendor...i suppose the final point won't be valid...

I usually purchase through amazon.com (Ebay also ok) and deliver it to one of my cousin brother in US place. (They have free deliver service to US) so my cousin brother send it to sri lanka through USPS Global Express Mail Service. USPS charges about US$25 to sri lanka.

but K&N price depend on your car model. this price is to my corolla.

Sad mate your expanation is way off reality.

USPS rates are very much higher than stated(im getting USPS services very often). The priority mail flat rate box (the cheapest service to SL) price is for an average price filter is above $37.The average express mail is above $63 above. This is in addition to the handling+VAT+customs+Stamp duty.Lets not forget the purchase price and US handlers misc charges.

You can use the USPS handy calculation for SL postages and realize the truth.

I also use USPS for most of my ebay purchases and they do have a cheaper service called the First class mail or international parcel post.

I've got most of my smaller fishing reels from US like this for 25-28 us$ and the larget ones for 38 dollars range...

dunno if things have changed now since i haven't bought anything for about 2 months or so...

first class mail however sometimes get very late...once it took 2 months for some DVD's i bought off ebay :angry-smiley-048:

My guess is that you should be able to ship something like a filter for the price Nilantha has mentioned here...
