Question

Hi All,

I’m planning to upgrade my car and looking at something in the 8- 9 Million range. Preferably a fairly new vehicle (2016 or above).

After going through a few car sale sites, I felt that the Suzuki Baleno and Suzuki Swift RS match my budget and requirements, but I don’t have any real-world experience with them.

  • How are these two models in terms of fuel consumption, comfort, maintenance cost, and resale value?
  • Between the Baleno and Swift RS, which would you pick and why?
  • Are there any better alternatives I should consider within this price range and year?

I’m currently using a 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer CS3, and I feel it’s finally time to move on. 😄

Would really appreciate your suggestions and experiences. 🙏

No point in buying a used 1L Baleno or a Swift for 9mn when the FronX which is essentially a souped up Baleno with better ground clearance + a better transmission (6AT) + more features and most importantly is brand new with a manufacturer's warranty is available for 10.2mn

Or the Perodua Ativa which offers even more value than the FronX for its 10.8mn price tag

What @Hyaenidae cars you are looking at for that price is not worth it. Seriously consider the other options provided. Yes its slightly ore expensive but you get a lot more and your risk is significantly minimized. If you are buying it on loan/lease your monthly increase may not be that high.

There are better options for that price. First let's go with options in your budget

Perodua Bezza - Costs 8.6 Million B/New. I drove one recently and is a good example of a bang-for-the-buck car.

Pro's - Brand new, comes with warranty, decent cabin space for a small sedan, very good boot space, decent ground clearance if that is a concern, pretty good fuel economy.

Con's - quite spartan and basic, Small engine + CVT not a very engaging drive.

Toyota Yaris KSP210 - personal import can get you an unreg unit for around 9M varies on color and options.

Pro's - Nothing Much :D but hey it's a Toyota hatchback it's basic, it's uncomplicated A-B motoring. You will get push start etc.

Con's - Most cars in SL are the bare-bones variants. Again 1000cc+ CVT

Here's your best bet though...

1.Increase your budget to 10.5 Million.

2.Decide to buy a Suzuki Fronx from the agent with warranty

3. Realize that you are just 300,000 away from a Souped up Toyota Raize/ Daihatsu Rocky that has a LOT of bells and w histles and overall a better package than the Fronx.

Buy a Perodua Attiva.
