theres a place in nugegoda where u can buy LED lights, i can post the website URL if admins are ok

Next to the railway station, right?

I have checked. But he does'nt have T5 SMD bulbs. Anyway, send me a PM. Thx ferrarif50 :)

Yeah. It has more. How about the landing process? Direct landing to SL or foreign country?

Sometime back I got 15 bulbs straight to home, costed around $15 as I remember. Replaced speedo cluster bulbs ;)

Hay buddy, it it safe? and are we going to pay any tax?

You need to contact the seller, make sure he doesn't pack them in a large box.. also, you can ask him to declare a low value on the custom declaration. I get stuff delivered to my office.. no issue at all. Got a set of wheel nuts yesterday.

Have an interesting problem with LED bulbs, hope someone can give some advice...

I recently got down some LED bulbs, a pair of P21W equivalent LED bulbs (24 LEDs per bulb) to use as stop lights - these are meant to be used as direct replacements

I first installed just one, to see how the brightness/color compared to the original, and was impressed :)

then as soon as I removed the other original, the first LED bulb switched on (weakly). Even with ignition off and car locked, it stays on. Of course it only goes to full brightness if car is in reverse.

When I inserted the 2nd LED, that also lit up weakly. Like before, no way to switch it off and only goes to full brightness in reverse

Since leaving these on might drain the battery I put the original bulbs back in.

Any suggestions on how to get the LED bulbs working?

Your car can probably detect burnt out bulbs, and it's confused with the lower power consumption of the LED bulbs. I've heard of other people having the same issue ("bulb out" indicator lighting up etc). I think wiring up a load resistor in series might help; I use 4 of them to slow down the blinking speed of my LED indicator replacements, so a bigger load might help you out as well.

could this result in the bulb lighting up even when everything should be off?

probably your wiring or the reverse gear switch is having a very minor current leakage. as terrabytetango suggested, adding a resistor would do the trick.

I have the same issue.. I replaced my stop (brake) light with LED, and it comes on lightly moment the engine is started. Didn't bother to investigate since there is no way those two LEDs can drain my battery.

feeling lazy to ask the google gods :P

so these LED's consume less power...does the same principle apply for high power LED's

I'm getting down a pair of Hella rally lights for the truck...they have 135W H1 bulbs.. now that's a lotta drain on the battery.

from the sites MalithS shared earlier....i found one offering high performance LED's that also offer 135Watts

Now the question is...this 135W the LED's speak of....does it mean they consume 135watts or do they say that just to give an idea about lighting power and not really power consumption?

Ripper, no idea on that. LEDs, especially flux LEDs, if they do consume that much power (135W) they will generate as much heat as a halogen bulb. I have two white flux LEDs on one my R/Cs and they light up the night like miniature Xenon HIDs, and become pretty hot, and they're rated at just 1W each. Most probably the seller is stating the Halogen equivalent in terms out light output.

thanks machang!

not too bothered about the hear cos the hella's are the old school rallye 2000's... metal housing and 9inches in diameter so enough space to dissipate the heat :)

the single review on that site by a buyer says it's like strapping sun into your light housing :D

I was only worried about the power consumption....2 of those means it's 270watts :(

i might kill the battery very quickly

if it only happens when the engine is running, then it could be due to an induced current in the circuit. coupling a capacitor with the LEDs might work.

thanks for the inputs... it's going to be a bit of a bugger to add a resistor cos the bulb has the same fitting as the original, so if I'm adding a resistor might have to do it in the wiring :(

I guess a voltmeter should be able to confirm if there is a leak?

if the leakage is the cause, is it intentional or does it imply some problem (e.g. in wiring, ECU etc)?

if it only came on at ignition I wouldn't care... if it even stayed on when the engine was on I probably could still live with it... but these are on (dimly) all the time :S

Just got it checked and there is ~8V across the terminals; which is not enough to light up the tungsten bulb but enough for LED to light weakly.

The garage dude said this voltage shouldn't be there and he will check it out (unfortunately this car has had some goda wedakam on the main wiring harness)

I dont think the LEDs will soak up 135W... may the power out put. Once you get them, I'd like to see these.. thinking of getting something similar for my self. :D
