Where Can I 1/18 Scale Model Cars

rangerover

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, i am an ardent 1/18 scale model collector. I used to buy models off ebay when i was in england and bought a few more on ebay since getting back here. However the cost of postage sometimes can be too expensive.

Could any of you please let me know of any shops where i can purchase 1/18 scale diecast models in sri lanka?? I have thus far purchased from Nastas, Liberty plaza. But are there any other places where i would be able to find a good range of 1/18 scale models?

P.S: I know a similar thread was posted some time back, but i am desperate for an updated list of shops where I can purchase these models in sri lanka

I'm not sure whether the scale your looking for is available, but AutoArt scale models are available at YODS, Odel Alexandra Place. :grinning-smiley-003:

This number was posted on these forums the last time someone inquired about model cars - 0722 741996 - i believe its for the people who are usually seen selling scale models at most of the car shows etc

i picked up this number in the papers for a collection of Corgi & Matchbox models for sale sometime back - used though i'm assuming

0112-734838 , 0776 179 311

actually 1:18 scale models are the most freely available here........not sure if they still operate, but I used to buy from planet 99 at MC where pee bee marketing used to sell from. But as Terabyte said, I have heard that they also sell from their warehouse, somewher in piliyandala I think. No numbers that I know of though.....

I think the next best would be Odel, who stock "Autoart" models, which are the best bang for buck. super detail and generally more workable functions than say "Maisto" or "bburago" models.

Oh and btw, if you wanna see some awesome and sometimes rare cars check out these sites

All 1:18 model cars beautifully photographed

Diecast model blog........no many 1:18 scale ones but many 'little' masterpieces.

Oh and Peri did a photoshoot of a fantastic collection a while back too. I think its in the gallery....not sure.

Thanks guys for all the replies.. I did try lumala gift center and cargills staple street. They didint have a good collection at all

Odel has quite a few models, quite interesting ones. But unfortunately arpico doesnt seem have updated their stocks recently. Arpico battaramulla has only two cars whilst the one in colombo 02 has no 1/18.. Pretty sad

I did call pee bee marketing, but they said that they only sell wholesale and not retail.

If you are interested in collecting avoid Maisto and Mattel/Hot wheels that are available at the Hallmark shops. The detailing is pretty ordinary and they are the least collectible brands.

Brands like CMC and BBR are the best but are very pricey. Autoart is a great value for money brand that has very good detailing as well. Norev is a cheaper brand where some cars are great but some ar crap. In the 1:43 scale you have a much wider choice.

It's best to surf the net and ask a friend or relative to bring it from overseas when they next arrive.

Remember detailing and the right proportioning is what's most important. Ebay might be the cheapest sources.

buying model cars from ebay is expensive. & when it comes to our customs fellows, they charge a tax for it aswel. So better buy it from a sri lankan shop. Have seen them in a shop in liberty plaza, & a toy shop located near darin's car sale.. :)

not only that. did you see the recent prices? I used to get most models between 25-35 GBP. Now its around 90. with the taxes I wouldn't even dare think about it
