Need A Top Class Spray Job

Well after my car was involved in an accident which damaged the rear, I took it to a new garage which has opened up in Colombo which was recommended by my insurance company. I wont mention the name of the garage unless it's allowed here, but when I went to scope the place out I was impressed with the premises, equipment and their customer service.

I wont go into detail about how the car had to be taken back twice to rectify issues (9 in the first time it was taken back including a huge scratch they managed to put into one of the doors), but as they wont respond to my calls for them to fix issues such as 'orange peel' I'm left with a car, which I feel is worth less than when it went in. I now need to look for another garage to fix the paint issues caused and I wonder if anywhere which is reputable in Colombo? Are the likes of Carmart or Kleenpark any good?

Any help will be appreciated...

..if its going to save any other forum members from the same trouble you've been through, you might as well go ahead and mention the name of the garage..

The name of the outfit is Arabian Motors in Colombo 10. To my knowledge they've only opened recently, so I don't know if any other members here have had good/bad experiences with them. Michael Muthumani has done some good work but from what i know he's very expensive

The work shop is located close to Gangaramaya - its the road adjoining Ishara Traders - its on the left hand side past the mobitel & dfcc offices..

i can't rememeber the exact name of the road or the number...

Devinda, if you are referring to Sp*eymech, then all I can say is they are not as good as they used to be... Have got some very bad experience there.

IMO most of these small places do a better job. At least you can take the car and blaggard the bugger and make him re-do the job. Of cause you may have to pay for Paint and Lacquer(Free labor), but I bet it would still be half of what you spend at those big fellows.

I know a guy at Udahamulla junction who does really good job and the price is very reasonable, and if you want I can PM you the contact.

- 3 years after a full repain i'm very very disappointed , especially considering the price i paid..

it didn't help that i knew them

no amount of cutting n polishing or waxing has been able to mask the imperfections in the finish..

very upset about how that pain job turned out

nope sorry , i don't know an exact price , but you can be sure it'll be pricey - but the quality is good based on a few cars i've seen..

also, i dunno if they do vehicles of other brands , but i saw a friends car which had been painted by Prestiege (BMW Agents) and the finish was nearest makes no difference to perfect

but in all honesty its hard to recommend a place or say a place is no good , cuz at the end of the day there's bound to be at least one person with a perfect or less than decent job to show at the end of the day i guess... :mellow:

bottom line - Sri Lankan painters are inconsistent!

Devinda, you are correct. some people doing their job (small places) very perfectly for reasonable price, and some people playing bullshit with our vehicles.

I have checked from Mr. Paint & Mag City for my Mazda. They said cost will be around 90K - 110 K for full paint job. But earlier i didn't see some vehicles (paint job done from them). Anyway "Mr. Paint & Mag City" - their painting cost its in very high range.

Recently my sisters car took a good paint. We paid 38K. Its a small place in Rattanapitiya.

true that... sometimes the best are the blokes in small places or better yet the ones you can get home and get the work done from - and because of the supervision they can't really slack off or cut corners then..

Both big places you mentioned have got bad reviews from AL members - some of the bad expereinces havee been mentioned on the forum..

Went and had a look for him on Sat but couldn't find him

Is it well hidden? I found Indra traders, but doesn't seem to be a garage next to it, unless it's in the actual grounds of the car dealership?
