yup...nothing says "ABARTH" like white does

the MG A is about 90% done mate,it just needs the upholstry work and the final paint coating to be applied...many thanks to all Al members especially supra who has been a real help with this...it was only up for a new chassis and body paintjob but thanks to the financial situation and idiots we had to work with this has dragged on for nearly one and a half years...the 2cv is also almost complete, just need to attach the recently arrived parts, but the bloke whos putting it together is a real slow-poke,so it may take months...the others are as they were i'm afraid :(

I'm also gonna register my vote for White!! italian cars somehow look great in that color...

Don, great to hear things are going along swimmingly with those two projects, was glad to help in whatever way possible, cant wait to see them on the road!! :D

Yeah I agree, but mine is the 1498 cc version and thus technically its not an Abarth.

The 1600 & 1800s  I feel will make a rather nice Abarth, but mine I am gonna keep her original.

Oh well, Thanks for the input mates and will see how the cookie crumbles.......

Dark colours also will not show the mud / dirt too much....considering I live in the village area...... <_<

Dare to be different eh? Thanks Chap so you think I am not I suppose? :violent-smiley-099:

Mud : Well I have always been a practical bloke, and after having many white / light coloured cars and spending hours primping them, only to have a small mudhole spoil hours of work....I have decided to ensure all my cars are NOT white.

I have never been one to show off, and hence the Psuedo Abarth will not work for me as I know its not real. (Never mind what others think). Like some who put "M" sport badges on a 316..........

Humility is a challenge and I shall endeavor to make it my middle name. <_<

Fair enough bro.. :) I don't think any of the white Votes are meant to make it a Abarth, but just another idea to make it look Hot.. Hence we shall meet up this week over a drink on the colour :food-smiley-004:

Great to hear that the MG A and the Deux Cheveux are nearing completion. What colour is the 2CV going to be? I know the frustrations of restoration. In fact my ones are now driving me off the edge.

Yes White is THE Abarth colour. But what do you think of the gray?

Now that I know how to put the pictures, gonna overload you guys. :P

Also gimme your opinions on the colour. I prefer dark options as this shows the chrome / shiny bits better which complements the cars lines....but hey...feel free to prove me wrong lol. :blum3:

Enjoy.

This is what she should look like once she's done. :party-smiley-019:

Options: Get to work guys. :dance2:

Let me know.....

Lol,

:angry-smiley-048: I knew that was coming. :P

BUT I did those modifications as I felt the Autozam after 10 years of owning her needed a cosmetic upgrade, and as I have mentioned the Lights which had those plastic covers were yellowed, and I had no other option at that time. Only now do you get projectors in the original shape.

Again, what I did was for me, and as you will attest the car was a good drive. I never tried to make it look like a Lambo nor did I put psuedo " 6 cylinder" or V6 stickers on my car. Never did I try to drag with a BMW 320 for example in some misguided notion that my old mazda with a bodykit makes it faster than a proper sports car? Even the 4 pipes actually worked.

Oi and btw that "god almighty spoiler" I copied from the WRC and I liked it. Kept all my glasses and bottles on it during some :alc: sessions. lol. very stable....ha ha

adey!!!...i never ever thought gray as potential color for the 500...hmmm....interesting!!!

should look great with the red stripes...i think the puristas would forgive me for borrowing a lil' bit of the abarth theme :D

btw the initial colour applied to the 2cv is red...but i wouldnt be surprised if me or pops have a change of heart half way through..haha...we often do that...LOL

Sprint Blue...........

cool...but i think only a italian can carry a colour like this and show it off so handsomely...i just cant think of anyother non italian car that would look this great with a shade like this

Thanks GT, but feel it needs to be darker?

Looks a bit pooftish  na? lol.......

Is that a Mazda protege hatch in the background?

Yes maybe it's a bit too modern for your car.

Then you can go for Lancia Blu which funny enough was a Fiat colour in the 70's. It's important IMO to get an original colour as even subtle deviation could upset the car. After all as you know Italians are artists above all.

Just look at that X 1/9 that's being advertised. One of the reason not many people are attracted to it is that hideous colour that's off a Honda CRV! If the same car had it's original blackish green it might have been a different story.

Sure looks like a Mazda hatch.

Ah how's the 500? Did anyone check the two advertised last Sunday? I'm sooooooooooooo tempted by a 500! But did not want to call in case I got sucked in to go and see it and then..............

Abarth theme is good, they were all Fiat at the start. Don't wanna mildly tune it, 595 style?

Btw what era is the 2CV from?

Poser escort? P*** off mate, :angry-smiley-048: it was in the process of being made into a mexico when I went out of the country and my dad sold the car !

After spending mucho moolah with a proper restorer (who is now not in that field) you know who I mean, ...I had even sourced a 1600 engine, when it all went to pot. Those stripes were PAINTED ON - not stickered - the easy way out.

This thread is becoming a pradfred bashing one I reckon, and I don't like this poking stuff :violent-smiley-045: so I am gonna get off and stay off. :action-smiley-081:

LOL yeah...a good 500 is a joy to watch on the road and there's that micheal schumacher influence which has stirred quite a lot of interest for it even among non-enthusisasts...i'm now very glad i did not sell it despite some great offers...it's a keeper allright

the 2cv is a AZAM "luxe" model...with bullet lights...not exactly sure about the MFD,but its circa late 60's...have to check up on that

Good to hear that you're keeping the 500. They are quite pricey in other markets.

I asked about the 2CV era because I feel its nice to choose a colour from that era. many people choose mdern colours for older cars and they seldom match.

Btw found these sites for one of our members who was looking for 500C spares. maybe they'll come in handy for you as well.
